  1. the terrano diesel motor is a R3M.  Some mods will be required to fit it into the cradle, but it's not too bad.  You can get a used r3m from an engine importer with harness and ECU for about $2000 cdn.  There's a world of difference in the tranny gearing, so i'd import a tranny too.  At that point, just get a whole front clip imported from a vehicle importer.  The average price i found for a front clip shipped to calgary was $3500 cdn.

Let me know how it goes...gas sucks!

um no...r3m is the Terrano spec designation, if you look hard enough you will be able to find info on the r2m which is the model below and didn't come with electrics and some other nicetys. anyway, the Terrano diesel engine is a TD27T

2.7L turbo diesel. non turbo version can be found in Nissan Navaras but I don't know if you guys have them in the USA. Also I wouldn't want to go near a non turbo one...I think the turbo one is OK and can be livened up a little with some simple mods...but the non turbo can't really be tricked up cheaply.

If some of my plans come to fruition in the coming year then I should have my diesel out and up for sale...might be a little expensive to ship to your country though.

I didn't take notice if you had a manual or auto but the automatic Terrano has the same jatco Re4ro1a gearbox as found in the v6 pathfinder, which means the gear box ratios will be the same, and I don't see why it would be greatly different for a manual box.

My diff ratio is 4.625:1 which is one of 3 or 4? diff ratios made available by nissan for the H233b diff. In any case if your diff ratio wasn't suitable you can always get a new diff center easy enough

FYI: the same automatic gearbox was found in automatic r33 turbo skylines but I believe they had a couple of parts changed to make them stronger. Rebuild kits are available for the gearbox in any case to bring them up to skyline spec.

  2. ok heres the right up and the price in AU dollars

    Frount shocks $210

    Swaybar link bush $19

    Swaybar D bush $30

Welding to chasis (where things have worn through) $241

    Radius rod bush $70

    control arm bushes $371

    Rear shocks $350

    Rear springs $199

    Panhard rod bush $39

    Draglink $440

    Diff mount suport bar $1139

    Fitting $847

    Alignment $55

    tottal $4141

Mish that is a blatant rip off.

My calmini shocks aren't worth that much!

Your sway bar link bush can be had front coventrys for like 7 dollars and takes about 10 minutes to fit.

I don't see them spending over 2 hours welding on your truck so cant see how they can charge over $200 for welding.

    UCA bushes are not $370!

Tell them where to stick the rear shocks and springs!

@!*% you can have my old rear springs for nothing if you want.

    hahaha panhard rod bush $39

Draglink should be about $200 - $250 for a replacement

Dunno about the support bar but like I said before go to a wreckers.

I can fit all the bushes for you for a cold beer :)

Shocks aren't hard...I have never swapped springs though.

Alignment, WA suspensions will charge you about $35 for that.

Mate they are trying to take you for a ride. It's Pedders, don't believe their slogan of no bull!

  3. A Terrano is the same as a Pathy just a few more trim options and a Diesel engine. :)

I haven't got a clue what side the fuse box is on in left hand drive WD21s but it shouldn't be too much difference.

A similar year WD21 'should' have the same fuse box with some fuses that don't do anything..eg I have heated seats which would have a fuse...someone else would just have a dead spot in the fuse box.

I'm more concerned about finding out where the fuses are for the headlights and the like...which should be in the same spot on WD21 fuse boxes.

  4. Can someone give me an idea of what the fuses are. All my labels in the fuse box are in Japanese and I can't read them. A picture or a diagram would be really great! :)

    Thanks

edit: its a 92 by the way, don't think that should make too much difference.

  5. Mine does the same. I spent a while looking at brakes. In my case its the steering. The car gets pigeon toed under heavy breaking which will cause to pull.

Might not be the problem in your case...but I had a quick read of all the posts so far and no one has suggested this problem which is pretty common for Pathys with the woeful steering.

Not much you can do about it really...make sure all your steering components have good bushes on them or upgrade your steering. The bigger your tyres are the worse the effect is.

  6. Casey T, they are easy to bend/snap once you lift your truck.

It is worth mentioning that it is not necessarily the angle on the tie rod that bothers it so much as the joint it connects to. I find that when the ball joint rotates forward on the centerlink the top of the tie rod can foul on the frame of the truck. This is where most of my problems have been caused given the frame is a whole lot more sturdy than the tie rod you can guess what breaks. And of course i would prefer to break a tie rod than smack a whole in the frame!

  7. wheelman maybe a whole @!*%load of captain obvious's urine could come flooding out from underneath the bonnet and hinder vision.

Obviously water coming from underneath the bonnet isn't going to be a major issue but there actually are other liquids under there...not just a hunk of metal with cylinders that go up and down.

I don't make the laws I'm just letting people know how things are in the corner I am from.

What if you got your windows open and your coolant comes out? Dunno about you petrol people but my thermostat opens when the coolant is at a spritely 85 degrees celsius. You want a drop of that in your eye?

  8. I don't know about other parts of the world but I recently found out in Australia (western australia at least) it is illegal to have a rear facing opening in your bonnet. As far as I can make out the reason behind this is if you have a major leak under the bonnet it can spray onto your windscreen which would be bad.

  9. Putting a bonnet scoop on the pathfinder bonnet is a PITA. There is an overcompensation of beams on the bonnet. I had to do a lot of cutting. My bonnet doesn't seem to be any weeker though so that is a good thing. I would only do it for an intercooler set up on a 4wd... but that is up to you. Mine is still a little crooked, I haven't been bothered to fix it. It works well and isn't falling off :)

  10. Sw is absolutely correct on this one! Best way to get to the oil filter is thru the wheel arch. remove the rubber that is between the arch and the chassis rail and you will get the best access possible to it. remove your tyre as well if you want it to be even easier.

  11. hey slick stupid question but does the engine noise coincide with a rise in rpms? I only suggest this because I have a problem with my tacho needle actually bending in the hot summer and it sticks to the tacho dial giving me incorrect readings. I have to pull the cluster out every winter and bend it back so my tacho needle moves again.

  12. That's precisely what my original idler arm looked like, and no it's not an aftermarket piece.

I have since replaced it with the other style one from a junkyard, in order to install an idler arm brace. I carry this one with me as a trail spare now.

I stand corrected then. I guess I guessed wrong.

  13. And you took your shirt off to do this because... ? ;)

Have fun with that one Steve, I don't envy you at all. If you find a late model dash post up some info on how easy/hard the swapover is.

    Justin

  14. Yeah there's not alot of local talent, just watch Australian Idol and you'll see that! Most Aussie bands that make it, really make it and end up in the US anyway. Like AC/DC for example.

aw c'mon now...there's plenty of local talent...just depends what kind of music your into.

Grinspoon, bodyjar, 28 days, frenzal rhomb, machine gun fellatio, pete murray, john butler, 1200 hundred techniques, hill top hoods...

Plenty of quality groups to cater for all different tastses in the land of Oz...Maybe your just not looking in the right spots?? ;)
