  1. Any trailer supply place has those shackles, they are like 8 bucks ea. The Metal yard will have receiver tubing, it has the seam removed from the inside.

What I could recommend is weld this stuff on now, you need to put a couple more coats of herc on anyway. As far as your welding.... who cares.. yank the crap out of it when you are offroading. If it breaks it is not like you don't have a welder to fix it... learning is half the fun of wheeling P...

  2. They come with a jig to drill through the frame in the right position... looks like a nice set of bushings, the shackles look like thicker material than what's used my 3/4 ton truck. Hmm, guess we will find out how they work, cause there is going to be a few people using them.

  3. I have a Calmini steering system laying in the corner of the garage. It did the job for a couple seasons and yes it wasn't perfect and no you can't have it. However it is a patch for a crappy system to begin with (As in the whole Nissan front end, my A/C control arms squeaked the whole time I used them.). For the most part the rest of their products have treated people well.

What I feel most were a little discouraged with was the attitude of the customer service. With the recent posts I have read, it looks like they are asking what folks really want.... hmm, that sounds like a change from what we all heard about in the past. I'm keeping my fingers crossed XXX XXX

The crawler gears are awesome!!! It is just amazing the difference they made with my rig....

  4. By the tones I have noticed, Calmini is on the edge of not being around. I don't know what you guys think, but the prices on the sas stuff they do have seem really reasonable. Maybe  we have seen a good trend at a company who supports our junk.

    Wouldn't that be nice......

  5. It is really easy to throw a chunk a receiver tubing under the upper square box... just think of all the things you can mount to it... racks to winches P...

If you put bedliner on it make sure it is herculiner.. the rest of the brands don't cut it.

Can't wait to see it on the truck :cool2:

  6. who cares about the rear stuffing, look at that front!!!

I care about both ends... Most of the battle when setting this stuff up is making the front and rear play together or share the load. Now when the truck is on level ground flexing, the body sets level thus sharing the load.

Here are three sets of pics: Truck level, Front up, Rear up...... its all about where the weight is at...

Level: The front and rear are sharing the load, truck setting level...

Your right... who cares... Me!!

  7. I found a HP D44 in a '85 Bronco at the junkyard with hubs and all, but it needs different knuckles, etc.  Wonder how much they want...they quoted me $150 for a Waggy axle.  ;)

I get waggies for around 70-100 complete at the pull your owns here in Denver, but 150 isn't a bad price if it comes with everything. Waggie axles would work fine for a SAS like mine. You would have to buy the C-wedges from jamesduff.com in order to use the radius arms from a bronco with the waggie axle. The only thing I can think that could be different is the pinion angle, I think the 73-77 Bronco pinions are pointed up a little more. So you may run into some difficulty there..

85 Bronco will not work unless the axle is not original. Now a solid hp full width Ford Dana 44 can be narrowed by using one of these. With this you wouldn't have to wrist an arm in order to get good articulation. When you cut the axle just cut out an extra chunk of tube in order to make it the width you would want. You may have to get a custom shaft made for that side, however it would work.

There is a EB housing and gears at Klamath Falls...Klamath Auto Wreckers 1-800-452-3301. I don't know what they want for it, but it may be worth a call....

A person just uses the housing anyway....

  8. That's the issue. We have no traction at all where I run trails. We go in and dig for next three days. :( damn...

Chu gotta make it up some time, I think you'll be in for a treat.

I lived in Michigan for a couple years, and I made it over to your neck of the woods. I like it there!!! However about 300miles Northeast.........

  9. A Dana 44 is half ass when locked with no tire slippage at moab.... There are folks that take a Dana 44, install Dana 60 knuckles and buy a 35 spline locker. I guess if you want that half inch clerance... it would work.

I dont plan on having any problem with the stock VG30 pushing things along, but when the power gets installed I plan on problems with the front. Nature of the beast... Here is what my buddy ended up doing over time! He still comes home broken....

A high pinion should work great.. With mine there would be exhaust clearance issues. This could be fixed by running duels all the way back or moving the y-pipe/crossover pipe back by the cat...

  10. I go to the shops in town and they say.. all that work why didnt you go with a Dana 60 :aok:

Low pinion is easier.. this EB axle is ready to go with the chevy outers. It is the same width of rear axle (Same with the Waggie axles). Most high pinion D44's are full width. Now if I was going to go through the pain of narrowing a high pinion axle it would be a dana 60... why mess with a 44... 35spline outers etc. The kewl part of the dana 60 (modified to fit an early Bronco) is that it bolts right on to my truck with this setup. So my truck is built for that option if needed.

The bumper is built out of 3/16 box steel and plate. It was cheap at the local scrap yard. Before the Herculiner I had around 60 bucks into it. The bumper is probably one of the better things I have made. The only downfall to it is you can't use it with a body lift, or you must build it for a body lift. Other than that it works, I wanted it to cover the front crossmember of the frame and match the cutout front wheelwells...

  11. So did you change the rear suspension and/or axle or is it still stock nissan?  What about the transfer case is that stock (yours is so clean compared to mine I can't tell).

My Pathy was origianally an auto tranny. After the second transmission took a crap it was time to go with a 5 speed. While this was all apart... hmm.. calmini got some of my money. So yes my tcase has a mod sly .

Now with the 4.90's and the tcase I turn 5500 rpm in 5th gear at the high speed of 25 mph.

The rear has 9inch rustysoffroad.com coils with 15inch travel rancho 9000's. I am at the point where the factory bushings on the rear are at the end of their ability.

The bumper... here are the build pics

  12. If your buddy is running leafs the axle tends to run straight up and down, not in a radius like the ford combo. Most folks that run leafs either run a CV on the front side of the shaft or get the axle cut and the pinion turned up towards the t-case. Some seem to have more problems than others. I think mookie and the hardbody you see at calmini turned theirs around 12-13 degrees.

LOL, do you really thing that trackbar runs behind the axle.... does kinda look like it at that angle.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, :aok:
