  1. Injector #4 was not to blame! Misfire became less noticeable the more I drove her, and cleaning the MAF sensor and throttle body has completely fixed the problem. Amazing what effects little things can have on an engine!
  2. Started experiencing a serious misfire. I blame injector #4! Time to find out tomorrow.
  3. Pulled into my driveway this morning to discover my brake lights were on. Laying on my floor mat was a little rubber stopper, so I spent a good 10 minutes wiggling the stopper back into its spot on the front of the brake pedal, and then taping it down. Brake lights work again!
  4. What exactly is stopping you from removing the O2 sensor? I recently replaced mine and I was having a similar problem to what you are describing. Upon replacing the sensor, my sputtering/stalling went away, and mileage jumped up to 18mpg!
  5. 1 day later and 1 new O2 sensor installed, and it seems to be a success! Pulling the O2 sensor not only revealed a very black sensor, but it also had the original Nissan logo on the side of it, which suggests to me that it had never been swapped. She doesn't run too rich anymore, and I haven't had any rough idling/stalling. It's only been a day though, so only time will tell!
  6. Checked this morning for a vacuum seal before heading off to work, and I didn't hear any hissing. I ended up ordering an O2 sensor which should be arriving today, and I'll install that later this afternoon. I'll report back on what happens! Thanks everyone
  7. Good call. I'll have to take a look at that sometime tomorrow!
  8. So I was driving my Pathy home from work today just like any other day, and while coasting up to a stoplight the engine died. This obviously caused the power steering to go with it, but as soon as I pulled over and restarted her, she drove completely normal the rest of the way home. No sputtering, no rough idle, just died while braking towards a line of cars. The only thing I could possibly think it could be is the O2 sensor. Once I was home, I unplugged the sensor and noticed only a VERY very slight change in idle, which has me thinking that this could be the culprit. I should also mention I thought I noticed her running a bit rich a few days ago, and there were also a good two stops at stoplights this week that resulted in a very rough idle. Sorry if this is a somewhat sporadic post, I'm just trying to get your guys' input before I drop the $80 or so for the Bosch replacement. Cheers
  9. Spent the majority of yesterday blacking the lego's on my 92. Pleasantly surprised with how good they ended up looking!
  10. I fully agree with Slartibartfast. I went searching at the local yards and found an identical dash in a '93 which I had never seen before. Pulled the missing bulb from that climate controller and I'm fully back in business. Good luck mate!
  11. Removed my rusting 92' step bars and installed some OEM 94' step bars from a donor truck! Also finally fixed my climate control bulb which had been broken for almost four years now!
  12. One last post, it's fixed. Sorry for the last two posts, they're basically unnecessary. Either the bulb wires weren't wrapped around the plastic mount well enough, or it just wasn't seated correctly, because now after re-wrapping the wires and tinkering with the way the bulb sits everything functions the way it should. Awesome to have my climate control lights back!!
  13. Update: Tested the bulb, it's not burnt out. That means that my climate controls somehow turned on, on their own, and then shut off again after a brief 30 seconds. So the question I ask now, is how that bulb made a temporary connection and worked but now doesn't work at all? Any guidance?
  14. Bumping because even though it took me a whole year (I've been busy and this was low on my list of priorities), I figured I would end the year on a high note and finally fix this. I tore apart my dash again and got the climate controls out to the point where I could access the bulbs, and one of the bulbs is just flat out gone. Everything ever done on my Pathy has been by my family or our mechanic, so the seeing the black bulb being gone puzzles me a lot. The grey bulb was there however, but it seems fine. I'm going to replace that bulb, but where the hell did the black bulb go? And if I can't find it, is there any way to purchase a replacement? Thanks guys!
  15. 24 years. Been in the family ever since she was new, with 315, 000 miles on her. If that's not a testament to Japanese engineering, I don't know what is. I swear these things live TOO long.
  16. Any side steps? Mine are the rusting into nothingness
  17. Quickly read through this thread to just throw out some suggestions, my 92' was doing almost the same problem as yours, and it ended up being the #3 fuel injector going bad. Judging by the fact that you've replaced all the plugs and cables, distributor, rotor, etc, I would highly suggest checking these out next if you haven't checked them already. Chances are you already have, but I just wanted to throw it out there! Unfortunately I think I'm losing another injector only 2 weeks after replacing this one, so I guess it's time for another $200 trip to make her run smooth again
  18. Just wanted to post a quick follow-up response, it was the #6 injector. You guys are damn good at identifying things on these rigs. Thanks again!
  19. Thanks to everyone for the responses! Unfortunately I'm so busy this time of year I'm just going to send her into the shop on Monday to hopefully have a compression check ran and then go from there. Thanks again!
  20. Yeah, I also thought it might be the injector. I'm really hoping it's not that though, thanks for the insight!
  21. By unpluging the O2 do you mean completely remove the sensor? Or just unplug the wiring harness (wherever that may be)? If it's the latter, where's the plug located at? Or should I just attempt to track it down by following the wire back up to the engine bay?
  22. 1992 WD21 here, I've got a bit of an engine misfire. At first it wasn't very consistent, but over the past week it's slowly been getting a bit worse to the point where it misses almost always when it's running or idling. Over the course of the last two days I went through and spent time servicing the: - spark plugs - checked spark plugs wires (all functioning as they should) - fuel filter - air filter - checked oil (last change was around 3000 miles ago) and transmission fluid levels - distributor cap & rotor When I pulled out spark plug #6 it did have a slight black film on it and smelled very strongly of fuel, which then led me to change the fuel filter. When I put the new plugs in, nothing changed. But when I swapped out the filter, the truck initially ran a bit smoother, but then started missing again after it warmed up. Either way the tune up seemed to help it a lot, but it still misses and I'm definitely missing a cylinder just based on the shaking and lack of power. I just ordered a new O2 sensor to replace hopefully on Wednesday, but I just wanted to see if anyone on here has any other insight into this. Thanks to everyone in advance!
  23. I didn't even think of this, and now that I look my heat shields definitely have a crack in them so it could be this for sure! Thank you! Also if you still have your 95 around, is it too much of a hassle for you to maybe snap a few pictures and show me your baling wire wrapping job? Just to get an idea of what you did...
  24. And here's the follow up video. Please excuse the constant sound of sprinklers in the background!
  25. It doesn't look like this has come up before, does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? When my Pathfinder's in drive, at around what I can only assume is 1250 RPM, it sounds like there is a metal rattling noise coming from the front. It also seems to do it more while I'm turning left rather than driving straight or turning right. I know this is a vague description of the issue, I just want to see if anyone can rule anything out right away. I will be posting a follow up video that hopefully documents the issue. I've already searched the engine bay and underside of the car briefly, I just don't want to spend hours aimlessly trying to track down the sound if the problem has come up before for someone else. Thanks everyone!
