93 XE Man 160K

Just moved Pfinder down the drive way. After a whole 20 seconds of driving i shut the vehicle off. After pulling the key out i noticed something electical was still running in the engine compartment. I tried restarting with no avail. I disconnected the battery to stop whatever is stuck on. I reconnected and the device comes on again,,,still without the key in ignition. Its not the fan running. And it was starting to smell of burning a bit. Any ideas ???

Looks like i wont be going out to watch the Bears game,,, RATTTSSS !!!!!!!

Well, it would help to try to isolate where the sound is coming from/which device it is. Sounds to me like you have a wiring short, and what you smell is the insulation burning... Funny that it hasn't blown a fuse, but that pretty much means that it is not something that is fuse protected. You are really going to have to try to find it. Try following your nose first, and worst case is that you hook up the battery and look for smoke... Got a fire extinguisher ?

Good Luck !

Thanks for the reply, my 6yr old loves your pic of Kitty with machine gun.

Dont know what happened but i reconnected the battery again and the noise stopped and she started right up and things seem fine for now ?? (ghost in the machine) my cousin thought it may have been the starter getting stuck in the disengaged position.

Well, hopefully since it went away, it'll stay away !! Cant hurt to keep an automotive fire extinguisher and 10mm wrench for the battery terminal handy though...

Yeah, the insane cat cracked me up, but I like the kitty sniper also so I decided to do a change up... ;)
