drive train or auto transmission problem

1999.5, 71K, pathfinder se, w 5sp (electronic overdrive) automatic tranny - she runs smooth when cold. When warm, the drive train has a periodic slight bang when I'm in low tourque cruising speeds & tranny shifts up .... sometimes a slight shake in drive train when tranny shifts down in low torque cruising.

The problem does not occur when cold (1st 25 miles or so) or when the engine is putting tourque on drive train accelerating. Under these conditions the drive train is smooth.

Is it the tranny, the tranny controller, the rear end, the tourque converter or ujoints or something else I have no clue about???

thanks

Check the u-joints first, they are the easiest. Grab the driveshaft and try and move it side to side in all directions. There should be no "play" or "slop" when you try to move it.
