SteeevO
so the T-case is off and i can't get teh dang tail housing off.. are there any tricks to it? thnx Steven Edited October 22, 2005 by SteeevO
vidro
What stage of NOT off is it? Is it loose but the bar and tail housing won't come off? If it not separating from the middle plate I found that there is some reverse psychology needed. Instead of beating (use a rubber mallet if possible a hammer could brake the case) on the tail housing part tap on the front housing, for some reason when mine was stuck this is how the tail house came loose. Hope it work.
MaritimeMan
Hmmmm. Are you just trying to pull the rear half of the tranny, or take it down all the way? There's a keeper pin in the shifter recepticle on top of the tranny that needs to be pushed through in order to let the rear housing slide all the way off. SteeevO
i was originalyly jus trying to get teh rear half of the tranny off. but it was being Major PITA so i just dropped the whole tranny then stood it up with the tailhousing on top then used a rubber mallet and 2x4 to hit the flanges that stick out. it came loose.. i'll be putting the transfer case and tail housing in the originally 2wd pathy today. then i'll be waiting to get the brackets in from the dealer so i can mount the front diff. also what is the best stuff to use to seal the tranny back up? thnx for the replys Steven Edited October 24, 2005 by SteeevO
vidro
They make a gray, over the counter sealant, O'Reillys has it. I think it's a generic "fits all" kind of stuff
