still have a clunk/knock in the front end somewhere. 12 months ago replaced all the steering linkage. still there, reindexed the torsion bars. the sound was gone. started again couple of months ago, replaced the torsion bars, sound still there. replaced the compression rod bushes, the sway bar bushes. top and bottom ball joints both sides last weedend.still there.

not as bad but still there. there is no movement in the upper and lower control arms. wheels bearings are good. any ideas?

this is while i'm going striaght ahead. the bump stops are there. can it be the lca bolt where the torsion bar fits in. or the front or rear anchors for the torsion bar? the front suspension crossmember bolts are tight.

It does this when you are driving straight ?? All the time ? Dependent on bumps ? Any particular speed ? More on one side then the other ? Does it increase with wheel revolution speed ? Are you certain it is in the front ?

knocks striaght ahead, only when going over bumps, or when you start to turn. more on the right than the left. have fixed the knock under the floor. the crossmembers were loose.

:D have found what the noise is.there were 2 sources. the crossmember that the torsion bars are mounted too. and the gearbox crossmember were loose.explains the knock under the seats through the floor. the second noise was the swaybar. where the d bushes fit into the bracket that mounts to the chassis with 2 bolts, was the cause. the bracket that mounts to the chassis, where loose not much, but enough. removed the right one, and you could see where it was shiny from rubbing. tightened the bolts up first to 50lbs, then 60lbs. problem the bottom bolt on the right handside stripped. used a longer bolt and grinded the sides off a nut so i could fit it in the hole underneath. i used a small screwdriver to hold the nut up to the old nut and jam the nut so i could tighten it. six days no noise. success at last.

Cool Bud, glad you got it figured out !! You have confused me though...

the front suspension crossmember bolts are tight.
the crossmember that the torsion bars are mounted too.

Isn't that the same thing ?? Maybe they just worked loose. I just started hearing a squeak in the front and a clunk in the back... Guess I get to crawl around now myself.

the front suspension link on the front cross member, the one the lower control arm is bolted to. next to the swaybar brackets.
