Throttle Position Sensor Adjustment 3.0

So, I'm really a Toyota guy, but falling in love with the Pathfinder too.

 

Decided to clean the throttle body and I took the TPS off while cleaning. I went to adjust it like I did my Toyota 22RE (Similar to Nissan 4cyl TPS adjustment) and my Chilton's guide tells me it is different.

 

What exactly do I need to set this? It mentioned testing the RPM of the on-off cycle....whyat the heck do I use to measure that? and where do I get such a device?

Officially, you should set it with a multimeter to indicate when it's opening and closing. The FSM has the specs in it. It's not that much of a problem if it's a little bit off, just put it back on and center it if you really need it to drive.

My Chilton's guide said to check the on-off cycle and that it should be 400-600rpms.

 

I just wasn't sure how to check that with a multi meter.

You'd check resistance between two points with the multimeter. I don't know offhand which two points, or I'd tell you.

Ok, that is how that chiltons guide said to do the 4cyl pathys and that is how I did my yota 22re. I know which terminals.

 

I just got thrown off because it said to check the on off cycle and it measure in rpms and not resistance. But I'll try that too. Thanks
