Interior lights: Dash/all controls/parking lights

All interior lights and parking lights are out.

I read previous forums and all fuses are fine (checked in the central fuse box and have bloody knuckles to prove it)

Someone mentioned something regarding a switch near or on the steering column.

How do i pinpoint this switch location before heading to a junkyard for replacement ?

Try replacing the fuse anyway. Sometimes they can pop and still look fine. The only thing that feeds both the dash lights and the exterior lights is the fuse.

I replaced the 10A fuse for the intererior lights. No help.

Probably forgot to state that i own a 93 XE manual.

My fuse box cover dosent list any fuse for the parking lights.

 

any other ideas ?????? :confused:

make sure there is nothing shorting out on the firewall i had this happen to me about three weeks ago. a wire was woren out on the firewall. this popped the fuse

though.

Check all you fusable links (I think there's five or so) for a short or corrosion or something. My guages, interior fan, headlights, just about everything flaked out on me for a few days because of a fusable link damaged inside the connector.

Thanks for the feedback and i finally found the problem.

I removed the steering column shrouds. then removed the switch housing for the turn indicator/lights/cruise etc etc.

There are five copper fingers inside that make contact when the parking lights, low beams and high beams are switched on. The middle copper finger (longest one) for parking lights looked like it was making contact when switched on. I gently bent it down so it would make better contact when switched. and wallah !!

I'm sure it will, this is a common problem/fix on 1st and 2nd generation Pathfinders. I'm guessing it wasn't all the dash lights out, but just the gauge cluster lights that were out?
