Hi, I'm a newbie to the forum, but not to my 1996 Pathfinder. been lovin' it for almost four years since I bought it from the original owner with 39K...now over 107K. I plan to drive it forever. Lately notice "bump/knock" in the front suspension (maybe) when on the road going over bumps, rough pavement, potholes, etc. Could it be time for struts? Loose motor mounts? Calipers? etc? Any ideas? Thanks!!!!

Hey- its something can actually answer!!! I went through this last winter on mine- and what did it for me was sway bar end links.

Look behind each wheel, and find the end of way bar. Atached to this will be a little bar 6 to 8 inches with rubber boots. One end attaches to sway bar, and other goes to strut I think. I think they were $35 for both.

To check to see if this might be it- put you hand around each of the rubber bushings and have someone push up and down on front end. In my case- I couldn't see any play, but with my hand around the joint I could feel a pop with each compression and rebound.

Good to go after that. Easier done removing wheel.

Good Luck

Chris
