OK dumb question but here goes...What should my tire pressure actually be?

Hey all,

OK noob here, but what should my tire pressure actually be? The door reading is 26psi but the tires actually have a max of 44psi. I think the back are currently set to 35 and the front to 37. The shop that put them on there set them to that. I don't want to max them out I'm just stumped as to why so low on spec.

Thanks

The 26 psi is the spec for that vehicle. The 44 psi is the max pressure at the max rated load for those tires.

Stick close to 26 psi and you'll be just fine. If you feel 26 is a bit too soft then you can bump the pressure up a few psi and see how it does. But be sure to check your tire tread wear pattern to make sure you're getting even wear across the face of the tread.
