geoff
I changed my oil and was driving home from Spokane to Endicott (about 83 miles) and when I was halfyway there, my engine started knocking a little. Like it needed oil. I pulled over and checked it and everything looked fine. It wasnt low. It hasnt lost any power either. I started back up and it kept on doing it. So I finished the drive home and this morning i went to Napa and grabbed some oil treatment. They guy said that I had probably knocked some sludge loose. I followed the directions and put the stuff in and now the knocking is even louder. Its a 93 Pathy with about 187k mi. Originial engine. Is it possible the lifters are just gone? Or maybe I just loosened up even more sludge? I am the first to admit I dont know much about cars, mechanically speaking. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks guys. 88pathoffroad
Try changing your oil filter. It may be clogged up and the bypass might not be working right.
