Fusble Link

Howdy folks, My fusible link "blew" yesterday and i'm not sure why. I have had some electrical problems since i bought the truck but this is the first time this happened.

 

Anybody with any cases or experiences with their fusible link blowing?? :confused: I'm not sure what'd put such an extreme load on it to do this??

well, i've had a constant low drain on the battery and i thought it was fixed a few times, after I disconnected my command-start, put in a new alternator, bought a new battery and it has gone away b4. But some phantom draw continues to cause me trouble.?? SInce the fuse blew my CD player and dash clock don;t work. which is strange??

 

hey k9sar: Did you find out what caused it? has it happened again since?

The battery I had put in had side ports as well as top posts. The one was leaking and the sulfuric acid did nasty things inside the connector on the link. I cut it all out, built a new one and replaced the battery. No more problems.

ya the stealer wants $25 CDN for a new link, so i think i'm just gonna buy a section of the same gauge and solder it in. SHould probably figure out what melted it in the first place too!!
