CHAOSMARINE
My name is Jason, husband and father of 2. Ive been trolling here every now and again and thought it high time I start posting. Originally from FL. where 4Xing is much different, extremely muddy, where I had a '94 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4, 5 speed, 4" lift with 2" body lift, 4.10 gear ratio and 34" TSL Supper Swampers. I find the Pathfinder easier to drive, no so big, but really want to beef it up a little more. I am by no means mechanically inclined but consider myself a pretty good driver, slow and steady. I spend the majority of my time working or with my family but enjoy target shooting and putting around just barely off the beaten path. The rocky areas around here do scare me just a bit but dont mind trails and sandy areas. If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer. devonianwalk
Hey man, thanks for signing up. If you've been lurking for awhile then you are familiar with us. Washington is a long trek from sunny Florida!
CHAOSMARINE
Yes, WA is a Far, Far away place I only dream of now. I see you're from SC, I lived in NC for about 6 years once I got out of the M.C. Its a small town about 45 minutes northeast of Charlotte called Albemarle. Moms side of the families from there. It looks a lot like the Puget Sound area, where I am now. Green everywhere! devonianwalk
Ah yes, Albemarle. You must be familiar with Uwharrie National Forest. That is where me and my buddies go wheeling and camping. Our last stop on the way to URE is the Wal-mart in Albemarle to pick up food and supplies.
Precise1
Welcome Jason! There are a few things you can do fairly easily and cheaply to make your Pathfinder a bit more robust. Rims, tires, suspension lift, bumpers and underarmor are all appropriate... Don't be afraid of rocky trails (unless they are loose) but no, not everyone wants to be an XXTREME WROKRAWLLER!! I do miss being back there too. Ive been to UNF quite a lot but not since around 1998. Welcome Jason! B I think Im afraid of the rocky areas is because Ive seen what damage can be done and I dont have the $$$ to fix what I break. And break something is what I'll do, I am very good at breaking things. lol! Ive had my Pathfinder for about 3 yrs now and have a wish list and almost all of what you posted is on it. Right now the most pressing is valve cover gaskets, throttle gasket and fuel filter and Ive been waiting for 4 months now to do that.
Precise1
Fair enough, I understand budgets all too well these days! About the valve cover gaskets, have your tried just snugging them back down? Gaskets shrink and screws loosen; most of them are accessable (with a long driver sometimes) and with most my vehicles and all 3 of my Pathys, that is all that was required to stop the leaks or at least slow them 95%. CHAOSMARINE
I will give it a try but they've been leaking for a while. I parked it so I wouldn't blow it up. It's also showing low pressure once it warms up but there is enough oil. Hopefully getting it all taken care of within the next few weeks. I've been working OT to save to get it fixed.
