R50: ABS Light, No Horn, Odometer Stopped Working...

Is it possible this is the "clock spring" located somewhere behind the airbag?

I saw the thread about removing the steering wheel but there's no part number for this sucker.

Any ideas? Other things to check? Related or separate issues? (Fuses OK.)

1996 5spd 4x4

Thanks.

Your clock spring is at fault if your horn, cruise, and steering wheel controls (if applicable and working) have stopped working. Page RS-9 has instructions on the clock spring's removal. It's a very expensive part if I recall, so try to get one from a junkyard.

As for the ABS light, pull ABS codes by following page BR-44 of the factory service manual and post the results here.

Don't know about the odometer, sorry.

Well, Courtesy Parts has a new spiral cable for $256. Yikes. Can't find a scrapped r50 around Charlotte to save my life.

For future searchers, T50 Tamper Proof Torx Bit looks like $4.

(EDIT) $12.44 after shipping

Got a steering column (minus airbag) from a local scrapper for $55. Hopefully the spiral cable/clock spring works (if not, they have three more).

So, uh, anyone need a steering column (j/k)?
