Idles great, that's as far as it goes

93 se, AT, have owned it for 3 yrs, always been a gutless wonder. Few months ago changed oil and ALL filters, plugs, cap etc...

 

After I was done with this, went to start it up and it starts great, idles perfect, but that's it. Put it in gear and hit the gas, it revs a little but acts like it's just idling. Put it in park and try to rev it up and it slowly goes up a little, then drops back down until i take foot off accelerator and do it again.

 

From what I've been reading on the forums the last two hours, it sounds like something in ecu, or some sensor relating to it. I am bright but not real experienced in this area of automotive maintenance. Can y'all give me some possible steps as to investigating the likely culprit.

 

The reason I have to deal with it now is clutch just went out in my Chevy truck and I have to get one or the other done fast. Well, back out to garage to finish pulling the clutch...and it's frickin freezing out there.

 

Secondly, if I do fix the immediate problem, is it normal for these motors to be so gutless? I mean, 0-60 in this thing is like 4 days.

Check your MAF sensor wiring for looseness or corrosion. Common problem. Also check your plug wires for proper connections.
