Power steering question

Hi all. I'm new here and was wondering if anyone has any experience with converting a power steering box to rack on a 92 pathfinder ? And if so, what substitute can be used ?

I've already changed the pump but the steering still feels stiff. I would really appreciate any views that would be helpful.

Thanks again.

Bent or binding linkage and bad alignment can make steering feel stiff. Something as simple as a bent idler arm could do it. I recommend you look into it more.

To actually answer your question though, I recall a discussion on this before but I don't think it was ever done. I'll search later if I remember...

I looked in to retrofitting a rack and pinion from a late 90s Chevy 1500 chassis, almost everything looked like it would be fairly easy to do. Fab up a few mounts and adapt the tie rods and steering shaft. If I can remember where it's at I'll grab it and maybe test fit it since my engine is out.
