Cant find timing mark on oil housing

:furious: I have a 1995 Pathfinder XE 3.0 v6. I removed the timing belt to replace it and somehow the crankshaft was turned. now , I cannot find the timing mark on the oil housing to align it with the crankshaft timing mark. Does anyone know were to find it or how to align this again??? I have the two top sprockets set at TDC (top dead center).HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!davermahon@earthlink.net

Remove the #1 sparkplug(front plug on the passenger's side), put the crank bolt back into the end of the crankshaft and use a socket wrench or long wrench to turn the crankshaft. Use a flashlight to watch the piston through the removed spark plug hole. Watch for it to come up the bore until it's exactly at top dead center, then you've got it. Make your own mark on the timing cover with a punch or whatever.

 

Most timing covers never did have a timing mark for the crank pulley, they made a mistake about that.

Well I worked on the timing tonite could not wait untill tomorrow . Can't get started,timed right. I'mboggled :help: . I lined the crankshaft up at TDC and the two camshaft pulley sprockets on the punch marks and at TDC . The engine is turning over but does not seem to sound as if it wants to start, There is no popping or afiring sound . Does not sound as if it wants to start. Can anyone please help with info? :help: Thank you

Check to make sure all the wiring's plugged in, then check the distributor to see if it's 180 degrees off. If I remember correctly, the rotor should point to about 9:30 for the #1 TDC position.
