s2cmpugh
Good day everyone. I started to hear this lite noise when travelling at slow speeds, doesn't matter if I'm turning or going straight. It seems to be coming from the passenger side. Today I raised the front passenger side up, and spun the wheel; no noise. Then I put my hands at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and tried to pull out and in (basically trying to pull the wheel/tire off the spindle) and it didn't move. After that I put my hands at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock again, but this time I left my bottom hand still and pulled out on the top of the tire, and it moved very slightly. It also made some sort of tapping or very lite clanking noise. I looked at the lower ball joint and the boot is still intact. So could it be I need to readjust the wheel bearings or is it the lower ball joint? When travelling at speed I don't hear anything, and the truck feels nice and tight. Thanks! Cris P.S. I have a Haynes manual, but it says I need a pull scale to do the wheel bearings..is this correct?? Edited April 24, 2010 by s2cmpugh
180sx
Have you looked at your strut mounts? That's what it sounds like. OR it could even be your strut. Both these have happened to me in the past.

Both these have happened to me in the past. Struts were replacing by the previous owner around 18k miles ago. no noise above like 5mph, but below you can hear a little something going straight or turning from the right front. 180sx
did they replace the front strut mounts? if not then that could be it. with the hood open, push down on fender and see if you see play in the strut mount. jose

Is this something I need to do right away or it can it wait a little while? I just got slapped w/ the EVAP code 0440 and 1448, so I'd rather fix that first. Thanks, Cris
180sx
It can wait a little I guess. There is going to be some play, but excessive is bad. Just be careful.
