ok i noticed this box under teh passenger side front seat last week and i thought it was the ECU. today i noticed a green light flashign on it and what apears to be an adjusting screw. is this box for the factory alarm.

 

and does teh alarm come w/ some type of remote?

That is the ECU, the dial turns it to normal and diagnostic modes, and the green flashing light is an indicator. When you check your codes, that light and a red light will flash in sequence for the diagnostic codes. There's a how-to in the garage.

Yep, its the ECM. The lights are not just for displaying codes, when you are not in diagnostic mode, they are displaying the operation of your O2 sensor. when they flash back and fourth, thats good.

well i should have been dead a while ago. that was a bad night... actually for the drive home i could not go over 43, had to have over drive off and and random lights were flashing.... well long story short i have no more interrior carpeting (rino lined now) and im not sure but should i replace my MAF, iv had a lil bit of power loss that iv noticed. id add a pic or two but my camera was on my passenger seat...
