Blower motor keeps blowing up.

I have a 92 pathfinder and so far in the past month, I have managed to go through 3 blower motors. I have already replaced the resistor, which by the way had a nice bird's nest in the evap core. Could something else be at play here? Maybe the thermal control unit is bad as well. I haven't really heard of blower motors going out after you replace the resistor.
