guampath Posted April 23, 2009 Share Posted April 23, 2009 hey everyone i have a 1997 pathy 4X4 5speed and when ever i put it into 3rd and let go of the shifter whit the clutch still in it will fall out into N and when i have it in 5th and hit the breaks to slow down some times it will go into N it wont do it in 1st 2nd 4th or R only in 3rd and 5th does any one know what this is? please dont say its a full trans problem because i just got this one the other day Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MY1PATH Posted April 23, 2009 Share Posted April 23, 2009 I would try changing your fluid, Use api GL-4 (GL-5 might damage your cyncros) and give it 5.1L thru the shifter hole. Nissan Mis-located the fill hole thus only allowing 3.6(1.5L too low). I would try that first and see if it helps any. Also check the dust boots under the sifter boot. If the floor pan boot is not arround the neck of the shifter-ball-boot it could be pressing on the shifter just a little.
