Increasing Auto tranny Line pressure?

I have a 2003 nissan pathfinder SE with an auto tranny. I am more of a manual transmission sort of guy but this car was originally purchased for my (ex)girlfriend to drive, but now its my primary vehicle. I do not care for the way the transmission shifts, it feels to be geared more towards comfort than "performance" or transmission longjevity. I know it was realitively easy in my TH-350 on my old monte carlo drag car to make it shift quicker and harder (a spacer plate with different holes/restrictions between the case and valve body, and 2 removed check balls) and on newer cars you can use some sort of power programmer to increase line pressure and firm up the shifts, but I have been unable to find either method for the pathfinder. All the power programmers seem to just increase engine performance, do they mess with the transmission settings also?

Thank you in advance for any information.

nobody? does everyone just run manuals here? any of you auto guys do anything to beef up the tranny? other than frequent fluid changes?

Whats a reccomended fluid? I used to run B&M trick shift in my monte carlo, but I dont know how compatible it is with the nissan.

Google RE401a. this is the transmission model number and there is a TransGo shift kit out there that changes out the valve body check balls and so on to firm up shifts and make them "driver controlled". I have wanted to buy this shift kit, however have not had the time or money to play with this....in addtion to the Garage being extremely cold right now.

so the tranny in my '03 is a RE4R01A? I saw that it was produced through '01, but they probably just produced a ton of them and used them through '04.

I am considering just getting the IPT modified solenoid. I guess its a known failure point, so might as well replace it,a nd might as well replace it with the better one.

IPT solenoid

it also seems like a less involved job than a shift kit (which according to summit racing doesnt include instructions) and is the same price:

Transgo reprogramming kit at summit

But either way I'll have to do some more research and make a few calls.
