Tacometer issue

I have just purchased a 94 Pathy V6-LE, everything seems to work well and it is in great shape. My only issue is the Tacometer. It will bounce up and down or not read anything at all, and sometimes it will read bang on for how the engine seems to be running. It does not show any other electrical faults or interuptions, so I am wondering where or what might be causing this.

Thanks

The tach is bad. I have no idea how to repair it, I just replaced mine. I took one out of my manual and put it in my auto, both 95. I suggest you persuse the classifieds for trucks being parted out, or perhaps someone will think of you on a junk yard run. You need the tach out of ANY 94-95. I have NO idea what they cost new and would rather not find out. Replacing the gauge is pretty straightforward. 1 hour job in my book...
