thejones
So a little while ago my parking brake got stuck on my 92 pathfinder. I rarely use it, since i dont park on hills. When i did one day, i went to disengage it and after pushing the handle all the way down to release the brake, it popped back up another 2-3 clicks. i pushed down again, and felt tension pushing back towards me, it wont stay down. My father-in-law thought it was fine, cause it didnt seem to be dragging at all. so i drove around a bit with it. well it wasnt fine, its definitely stuck, although not fully, cause when i pull up on the parking break, it keeps the truck from moving, i release and start to go foward. It only seems to be locked on the driver side, i took the wheels off and the pads on that side were worn down much more than the pads on the passenger side. any ideas where to start to fix this problem. Simon
It's the intermediate cable between the brake handle, and the "T" that separates to the two rear wheels. Mine did the same thing. In the interim, I snapped the cable by pulling up as hard as I could, then replaced that intermediate cable. It's pretty easy to do, though, you have to remove the center console to do it.
