Towing question

Hope this isn't a repost. I've search, but nothing comparable came up.

Well, here goes:

It looks like I will be towing my sister's car to my grandparents place. My Pathy is stock with no external auto tranny cooler or any other trick mods (except the tow hitch and wiring). It has 94K miles on the clock and as far as I know, the auto tranny is original and in good working order with clean fluid. The LSD diff also had a recent transplant of fluid.

Do you guys think it will be safe to tow this far? Or to tow at all? I've never done it before with this truck. I've heard the our trannys suffer a bit without any cooling aide.

Here's more details:

It will be all freeway travel where I probably will travel around 65-70mph

Only three hills to contend with

The outside temp is a steady 68-73ºF

The car being towed weighs about 2400lbs

Only other weight in the truck is my 80lb Germen Shepard

Appreciate any input...thanks

Nah, you should be fine.

If you can, get one of the Uhaul car dollys that you can put the whole car onto it and make sure the trailer has surge brakes.

Also, ALSO - keep your engine out of OD. Make sure the OD button is OFF at all times!

Other then that, take it easy and drive safe!

PS - owned lots of boats, so I know about towing and what mistakes I done ;)

Thanks for the replies. I was planning on renting just a dolly from Uhaul. I was also warned by others to not use O/D as it would heat the hell up. I didn't know that. Thanks again!

Well, the trip went smooth with no drama. I was surprised how well it handled the tow. The gas was just about what i expected: 11mpg. Thanks again for the replies/suggestions.

Done with this tread!
