Doing BL over weekend & rear body bolts are stripping

I have been PB Blasting for 3 weeks to loosen everything up and even loosened them all last weekend.

When I tried to remove the rearmost passenger bolt it started making a snapping sound and stripping the bolthead

should I just drill it out? just wanted to swap the back bolts to keep alignment while I do the lift.

I tried to search but I suck at searching :stickwack::puterpunch:

just wondering what others did when the bolts decide not to cooperate.

And as always thanks!

:crossedwires:

Getting back to it early tomorrow morning

I had issues on my old truck with the rearmost bolts. I cut a small hole maybe 1.5"x1.5" in the cargo floor right above the bolt. That gave me access to the captive (welded to the subfloor) nut. From there, with some PB blaster, and a decent amount of wrenching, I was able to get the bolts undone.

One of my bolts came out, with the nut still welded, the other, I had to hold with vice grips, as I spun the bolt out, as the spot welds snapped.

Air chisel will open the cargo floor like a can...

Awesome idea; I was hoping I wasn't going to have to drill that out; just didn't know what held it in place.

Thanks Simon

I did the same as Simon. You can't tell the holes are there with the carpet back in place. FYI you can get plastic body plugs at Jeeper stores. The back bolts are welded to a big square washer so they don't turn.

Worked very well and quick.

I still had to drill both ou but thru the top was VERY quick!

The passenger side plate was actually spinning; so a buddy held the bolt underneath as I drilled; needed a new bolt so I cut a plate and used a lug nut to tighten her down with. (only fine threaded bolt that would fit that was on hand)

I seen a post or 2 where people drilled out the entire bolt from the bottom; It was in the 90's most of the weekend so thanks Simon & Earth; you saved me a few gallons of sweat & pain.

I'll take pics of the cuts before I seal them up for a reference.

Again thanks.

Mike
