GMCD
I've upgraded to a 55w head unit lately and wonder if the signal from the head unit [which is amplified] then going into the two pathfinder[93terrano] amplifiers for front and rear is being overamplifried ? With a 55w x 4ch head unit, should I just short circuit the built in amps and wire directly to speakers?

revgolem
i just wire into the pre-amp out on my head units (made an adaptor for the co-ax plugs) and used the pathy's OE amps only. they have plenty of power for anything that could be mounted in the stock locations and i can still piggy-back to the wires to add any additional amps/speakers. works great for me. HitTheTrails
You don't want to amplify the output from your aftermarket head unit! I bypassed the amps by taking the input wires and output wires of the amps and connecting them. Just had to figure out which wires were which and go for it. It's not the best way to do it, best would be running new wires from head unit to speakers, but it was quick and easy, and it sounds pretty good. 91PathSE
You don't want to amplify the output from your aftermarket head unit! As long as you know what your doing you can hook an amp up to an amplified output from the deck, it wont hurt it, I've done it many times in my own truck and most of my freinds plus where I worked I did alot of electrical work from lights to systems to most aftermarket acessories. If you want a average system you can just run new wires to the speakers, not a big deal takes a little time and thought but simple. If you want something like mine, You will need some knowledge of hooking up systems and making them work right without ruining the whole thing.
