Stereo problem on '00 SE

I have a problem with the stereo in my 2000 Pathfinder SE 4WD. First both front speakers started making a popping sound and would fade in and out, then they both died at the same time. At this time there was a stock headunit and stock speakers.

I thought it was odd that they would both die at the same time so I was thinking that it might be a problem with the signal from the headunit to those speakers.....so I bought a new headunit. After installing the new headunit the front speakers started to pop again and eventually went dead...again.

The next step, for me, was to buy new speakers. After putting the connectors on the new speakers, they are not producing any sound at all, leading me to believe (naturally) that there is not a problem with the speakers themselves. I noticed that there is a black box that sits next to each of the front speakers and says "Bose" on it. Is this an amp for each speaker?

So long story short, my front has no sound and I was wondering what the problem might be and how to go about fixing it.

Thanks,

John

I believe that the BOSE system does have separate amps for each speaker. That could very well be your issue. Try running your speaker wires direct from your new headunit, to your new speakers.....bypassing those boxes....and see if that helps.
