Hey guys...i have an 95 XE 4x4 automatic Pathy. When i bought the car i did not recieve a user manual. I was wondering if anyone knew the function of a button to the right of the steering wheel directly to the right of the cruise control function. The button is labeled "AUTO POWER" and also hase "E-AT" on there. i have attached a picture if anyone needs to see. Can anyone tell me what this does? Also, i have another question...I can not get my Pathfinder into 4 LOW...for some reason it just will not shift into 4 LOW. THANKS!

This question has been asked many times. The Power button changes the way the auto transmission shifts. When the switch is off, it shifts normally. If you hadn't noticed, when you mash the gas quickly sometimes the light will come on. That means that the microswitch on the gas pedal is triggering Power mode in the transmission computer, which modifies the shift points (it will downshift faster and upshift at higher RPM's) and revs the engine a bit higher than it normally would for better acceleration. When the Power switch is turned on, it will be in Power mode fulltime until you turn the switch off.

 

Again, the 4LO question was just recently asked. To shift into 4LO, put the auto transmission in neutral, then pull back on the transfer case lever one notch, which puts it into 4HI (you can shift it into 4HI in any gear and up to 45 MPH safely, but the vehicle must be stopped and in neutral to put it into 4LO). Then PUSH DOWN on the lever and pull it towards the rear of the vehicle another notch. That puts the t-case into neutral. (In this position, the vehicle will roll on an incline, regardless of transmission gear selected, so keep your foot on the brakes.) Pull the shifter back one more notch and you will have it in 4LO. Sometimes a bit more pushing downwards is required to get it back into 4LO. Uninstallation is the reverse of installation. Thank you, drive through!

I was confused about the "Power AT" button at first also. Somehow it got clicked on and while driving it for the next couple days I thought my tranny was dying! :D

 

I also heard Cruise Control mentioned. I sure wish I had cruise control :shrug:
