Hood plunger switch - Can it be bypassed?

Hey guys thanks to all the info you've provided here, I've figured out why my keyless entry is not programming properly. The alarm LED is blinking fast and I could not get the alarm control unit to do anything when I depressed the button on it under the drivers seat. Well I looked at all my door switches and they were fine and when I read that the hood plunger/switch could cause problems I looked at that and DOH.....just a bare wire hanging there and no plunger in the housing. I can't seem to find one of these things anywhere so my question is, can the hood plunger be bypassed so that the alarm system always thinks the hood is down? I'm no electrician, but wonder if anyone has done this and if so what did you do?

Thanks!!
