95 Pathy electric probs

Help. I have a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder "Sport Edition" with the VG30E engine, and Automatic Transmission. A couple weeks ago, my car died while I was driving it. It still turns over but will not start.

My long process.... Skip this to "what i have now" section if your want to read this quickly.

 

 

Initially I narrowed it down to no-fuel, the fuel line wasn't pumping when i turned the key over. I checked my fuses, they were good. After a new fuel pump. That was still not the problem. I wasnt getting a hot to my fuel pump (+) connection. I traced the wire (white with blue stripe) back along the wiring harness underneath the steering wheel. Still no voltage here?! From there the wires go into the "Nissan Laborinth" and I am unable to continue. I checked for voltage at the fuse box, and got over 11 volts, but wires from this were black w/ white line and silver dot.

However, I ran another "test" wire from my (+) from my fuel pump to the engine compartment. I have continuity to a harness located above the engine block. It is a four pin harness and the wire going in is a white w/ blue stripe also. Still no voltage here. I think I had continuity to one of the terminals on the Fuel Pump Relay or ECCS relay (not positive though- that was a long time ago and i cant go out and recheck right now).

Because the wire runs to a harness on the engine, So something is going on here a sensor on the engine controlls the fuel pump? Well I found that the Computer (ECM) has a system that runs mainly from signals from the Camshaft Position Sensor. So i tried to use the self diagnostic on the computer and the lights never came on. I know they work I have looked at them in the past trying to fix my flashing check engine light months before. Well, I had worked on it for weeks and couldn't find a fix so i broke down and took it to a friend who is a local mechanic. He said that there is no spark, no injector pulse and that camshaft position sensor isn't getting a 5volt signal. He recomended another ECM

Electrical Problems!

Pathfinder with no voltage to the fuel pump motor. Possibly stemming from a bad Camshaft position sensor, relay, or ECU.

 

So I have questions.

1. Where does the 5volts to the Camshaft Position Sensor come from? The ECM? Or did he mean that 5volts weren't being produced from the CamSensor?

 

2. I dont remember the fuel or eccs relays making clicking noises. Should they? Is there a way to test these relays? 'Cause for weeks now, NAPA has been sending me the wrong ones. I just gave up and "guessed" they were ok.

 

3. Is my ECM broken, if the lights dont turn on when I turn the key? If it is broken where is a good place to get one? Oh yeah, what years of Pathfinders could I use as a replacement?

could be the ECM.... but first check all the connections to it, including the ground. that could be your issue as well.
