Animal Posted October 4, 2006 Share Posted October 4, 2006 Does the engine warm up to normal temp? If not, my guess would be the thermostat. If it does and the idle is still high, first I'd check the throttle next for a vacuum leak then the air idle bypass. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

88blk4x4 Posted December 6, 2006 Share Posted December 6, 2006 my 88 was doing that. it would idle high then the gauges quit working right, then the alternator light came on. after I changed the alternator, the idling went back to normal and the gauges started working again Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
