I am considering doing this, but I've never been into a chunk before and I have no idea where to get the extra clutches.

 

I read a write up on this, but would like someone elses opinion on how long this may take and the amount of care needed to do so.

 

Where does one find these clutches?

gotta buy them from nissan. i used the 1.5's, which is the middle one out of 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6. its alittle better when both tires are on the ground and chirps if i give it a little gas around corners . but even if you lift a rear tire, it will still break loose. sometime i can give it a little brake and it will sorta work out, but its going to be nothing like the detroit im putting in the back soon!

How hard is it to swap the lsd for an open spider that I could weld?

you can weld the spiders on the LSD too.

Yeah But it seems like a waste of a good lsd that someone else might need.

Just swap the whole 3rds provided the R&P are the same.

 

That's the easiest, you'll be able to find someone with an open rear who wants an LSD for free pretty easily. I'm sure you could work up a straight up trade, 3rd for 3rd.

Was there a set number of splines on the axles?

I see 33 and 31 mentioned what was the difference?

33 splines are on the frontier and x. 31 splines are on the pathfinders and hardbodies.

Not preciesly.

 

The R50s also had the 33 spline rear end.

But any WD21 would interchage directly correct?

As long as it's got the same bolt pattern and gear ratio, yes.
