  1. mobil1 and all the new mobil oils are 5k or more. the problem normally is the filtration not the oil itself.

Cool. Using Mobil 1 is not a problem. But if i'm going to change the filter, wouldn't I have to change the oil? Once the filter comes off, the oil is going to spill all over the place, isn't it? The little bit of dribbling, I'm not so concerned. But I'm worried that all the oil will torrent out of the engine pan.

I've never taken the filter off first so I don't know if it'll torrent out or not  . Can we just change the filter alone?

  2. OUCH! At least you weren't on the receiving end. I got T-boned like that (on the receiving end) once by someone running a red. I was hurting for a week and half.

Sorry about the pathy. Now it's time to but on that winch bumper! MUUUAAAHAHAHAHAHA...

  3. Is there a difference between "disc brake wheel bearing grease" and "non-disc brake wheel bearing grease"? Yeah I know, one is meant to be used with disc brakes and the other for drums. But can I use the disc brake grease for the drum brakes? and vice-versa?

    Thanks

  4. I know what you mean. I had a 01 pathfinder and I've had the check engine light come on twice. The first time it came on was about 45K. A timing sensor went bad. ok, had it replaced. Then 5K later, it came on again! The problem? Same thing! THe other timing sensor went bad. :o Needless to say I was quite disappointed.

  5. I'm curious...where is the oil pump and how do you change it out?

I'm asking cuz my dad used to have an old dodge caravan and the oil pump light would intermittently turn on. You wait a few minutes, and everything would be fine again.

  6. It has finally done it. Gas prices has finally snapped me and I just traded in my pathfinder for a corolla :( . The price of gas has gotten so high that it has gotten REALLY painful just to drive near a gas station. So I went from guzzler to sipper.

Anyone else broken because of the price of gas?

Damn! I loved that pathfinder too. It was so much fun to drive especially in the winter time.

Ah well...time to move on. ONE DAY...I'll get another pathfinder.

Until then, I hope you guys won't mind a Corolla driver ex-pathfinder owner hanging around here. :D

  7. I have run into this crossroad last time when gas was spiking over $2.25. I decided to bite the bullet and kept the pathy. Now that gas in Chicago is over $3, I have to reconsider again. I am sad to say that I must now let my pathy go :(

    :(

Tomorrow I will be trading my pathy in for possibly a Toyota Corolla or a Mazda 3(from a guzzler to a sipper). I really loved my pathfinder. But damn it!, gas is so expensive now. :sniff:

I don't do any offroading or backtrailing so that won't be missed. But being able to trudge through over 12" of snow was AWESOME!! *sigh*...the pathfinder was such a fun car to drive :sniff: I'll miss it for sure.

  8. which isnt necessarily a bad thing.  from what I understand, suspension lifts are better for your vehicle, and they give you better ground clearance :)

body lift = more room for bigger tires

Wouldn't suspension lift allow you to put bigger tires too?

  9. So do people by body lifts or higher suspensions to raise their cars? Is one better than the other?

Someone in the forum (sorry I don't remember) told me that r50s don't have frames so a body lift is not an option. So if we don't have frames, then what do we have?

  10. Hi,

I've been following this forum for a while now but I've got some super newb question to ask about lift kits and suspensions :hide: .

I think my shocks are getting worn (clunking, all the bushings are fine, lots of vibrations when on the expressways). So if I'm going to replace my shocks, I want to raise my vehicle about 2-3 inches. How do i do it? I have heard the term body lift kit floating around, then I heard people raising their cars with suspensions. Is one better than the other? Which kit can be done by a DIY in their own garage?

    Thanks! :aok:
