  1. is going on vacation and will miss driving my truck but time with the wife and kid is always great

  2. Yep. All is well. I even tried new fuses just in case. still no lights in dash, corners or headlamps
  3. 1988 Pathfinder XE w/ factory fog light option.Went mudding tried to turn on my lights to drive home and had no dash lights, no running lights, no dims just brights and fogs. checked:fuses, switch, bulbs, connections. Please help! There is no water anywhere near my lights and the mud didnt even splash on them(weird)considering the coverage of mud on my truck!
  4. It does have an oil leak that is consistent but not significant in amount. It always drips but never looses more than a couple drips while sitting. From what I can tell it doesn't leak when it's running. I will def check cap and rotor and I was considering checking the trans fluid level but I have not been able to find any GL4 but I am OK buying it online and having it shipped. Is there a specific brand that would be best for a budget minded fellow? Thanks!
  5. I have a 1988 XE-V6 5-speed I am a weekend Warrior who makes my own trails then running them and occasionally tackling ditches and rocks that shove the tires pretty far up into the wells. Here is my question: The truck has 190005 miles on it and still runs fine but was not treated extremely well before I bought it a year ago and while I don't abuse it, i definitely use it for fun and regular transportation. I've changes spark plus and wires but that's really it. I know there is more to change but I guess I don't know where to start on a small to medium budget. Long-term wishes like lifting and bigger rolling stock are just that... long-term. Right now, I guess i'm looking for just the next step as far as keeping it running well and correctly. THat's all I'll say for now. hope to hear from you soon. i'll try to add a pic soon Thanks for your comments
  6. ok, we're good. thanks guys. oh yeah, with 93 in the tank this time it runs a lot better and doesn't make the extra noise around 4k now. it's gone so it must have been pre-detonating right?

  8. There is a really awesome place with Trail ratings from one to five in SW MO. It is SMORR in Seymour, MO. I'll be heading down there soon and hope you guys can get there too. just google Seymour, mo off-road and it is the first or second selection. Happy trails
  9. Yeah well I know sometimes it is right as far as what is marked but I also know sometimes those stock tachs can be misleading. I am running 31X10.50's and have stock gears all around. It makes an extra noise around 4 grand too... know anything about that? like a tick or similar to vtec when the timing changes...
  10. yeah it is a standard. man well that makes a lot more sense. it's torquey so i figured it just didn't rev too high kinda like other truck engines. cool
  11. Hey i know this might be a simple or noob question but what is the redline for a 88 vg30i? I usually shift mine around 3 grand but have done it at 4 before. also wanted to know if you have had yours running at 3000 or 3100 at 70 or if mine is high with these numbers
  12. It was brought to my attention that in order to lift my stock 88 xe i'd have to lengthen the brake lines and other issues like that otherwise it would cause obvious adverse effects. Is this true? Can I do a lift of 3 or less and leave everything the same as far as brake lines and such. Does it make a difference if i do a body lift verse a susp lift concerning these issues? Thanks for helping a noob!
  13. I'll take two of everything please. thank you. har har har that's a slick ride keep crawlin!
  14. Hey! I was wondering if it is possible, advisable, or not recommended to cover your truck in Rhino coating. You know what I'm talking about? The black plastic stuff. I go through a lot of tight trails and gravel situations so I was hoping it would be ok to do it. My paint isn't beautiful and i'd like to do it also to set it apart from the others. I know not many do it and that is why I'm skeptical. Is there a good reason not to do it? Be gentle!
  15. Thanks a lot guys! This is great news. I'll just take off the mud flaps, and adjust the torsion bars. Is there a sticky or PM concerning how to do that? My only concern is the offset. they stick out about an inch past the fenders. it doesn't seem bad just making sure it's ok

    And now?

88 pathy xe-V6 5-spd 2-door 184,XXX mi Got some lightweight(lighter than stock) 31X10.50X15's on today and was wondering what the next step needs to be or if it is fine how it is. all the clearances are fine as long as I turn with the bigger tires in mind. I'm not a crazy driver or hardcore off-roader. I do some off-roading but most is commute of about 5 miles tops! it runs pretty well other than being hard to start when its cold but I've figured it out. What should I be aware of since I have the larger tires? What should I check? Do I need anything else? Thanks. Membership here Rocks!!!
  17. Hey got a new starter and fixed basically everything... The starter was full of oil and burned to a crisp to top it off. the guy I took it to to have it checked said he'd never seen so much oil in a starter(no doubt thanks to the bonehead placement of the dang thing!) Thanks for your advice. NPORA Rocks
  18. Awesome. I'll try it. What about the rough starting?
  19. Basically said it all in the description but I have an 88 pathy 3.0 and i love this thing! When it gets below 40ish it sometimes wont turn over no matter how long or how many times I turn the key. doesn't do the repetitive dead battery click either... ever. Autozone checked the battery and said the batt and alternator were fine. Sometimes it turns really slowly, others it starts in seemingly one rotation. in the cold after it starts i have to hold the throttle above 1000rpm or it sputters and dies. The other issue is when warm or cold the idle is good and solid, never dies, just seems to miss randomly. Are these issues related? What's up? Anyone know?
