  1. I'm getting ready to replace the AC compressor in my '92 Pathfinder and was wondering if anyone would know how to oil the new compressor? What type of oil should I use? Is the compressor oil be the refrigerant oil R12 or R134a? Any information on this matter is greatly appreciated since I can't find the answer I'm looking for on the forum. Thanks.
  2. My 92 5spd pathfinder has 163k+ on the clock and with my current misfire, might be a good time to change the original oxygen sensor. Some of the sensors I found were in upwards of $150 but found this one: http://shop.oreillyauto.com/ProductDetail....291&PTSet=A for $35. My question is how would I hook it up since the original sensor has two wires coming from it that goes to a wiring harness and this one only has one? Do I need a heated one or non-heated? Mine is located on the down pipe. Thanks.
  3. When it was running and I was able to drive it, to would stumble real bad when trying to accelerate until the point where I had to downshift gears until it just died. How can I go about testing the MAF short replacing it with a new one? I know they are pricey and I don't have access to a known good one. Alkorahil - I do think also the battery thing was something separate but now seems to be resolved but I'm keeping an eye on it and will investigate once I figure out this misfire thing. I haven't checked the codes yet but will do so hopefully later on today after work. Do you think it might be the fuel pressure regulator? How can I test it? Thanks for all your guys suggestions.
  4. I was driving my pathfinder when all of a sudden it started to misfire in 5th gear upon acceleration. Dropped it into 4th and still misfire on acceleration. Same in 3rd, 2nd, and 1st until I came to a stop where I had to give it gas just to keep it at idle. Took off, still misfiring and got to 2nd when the car just died and coasted to the side of the road. Next day, changed out the fuel filter, started it up and began to idle fine after a few seconds of stumbling. Took it for a test drive when 3 minutes in the drive, started to stumble on acceleration in 3rd, downshifted to 2nd with same result until It died again, but this time all the electronics were out. Warning lights, interior and exterior lights. Checked the battery and found only 1.9 volts. Took battery out to charge and all of sudden had 12 volts when I checked it outside of the car. WTF??? Put battery back in after cleaning terminals on battery and on harness to check alternator. Car did start and idle fine, about a minute, just enough to check that alternator was charging battery when car started to stumble and misfire again to the point where it sounded it was about to die until I shut it off. Changed out the distributor cap, rotor, and plugs with the same results. I've included a video to show what it sounds like to get a better idea what I'm talking about (yes I know, I have an exhaust leak lol). What else can I check or what direction should I go in next? I'm maybe thinking timing or something more with ignition, am I right? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated as this is my daily driver and I need running ASAP. Thanks. Video:
  5. Aloha everyone! Im new to the forums and hope to learn quite a bit from everyone. I just recently aquired a 1992 Nissan Pathfinder XE, 5 speed, 4 wheel drive and I live in Maui, Hawaii. It was my uncles but because of a recently broken timing belt, he has given up on it and gave it to me. So now Im in the process of repairing it, then using it as my daily driver once its up and running. Im hoping it hasn't bent any valves, so it'll be an easy fix. Hope to meet you all. Alohaz!!
  6. Aloha everyone, Im new to this forum and need a little help. Here's the situation; my uncle replaced the timing belt on his 92 pathfinder less than 4 months ago and just recently the timing belt went again. I was able to remove mostly everything to see what the belt looks like and what I saw was mostly every teeth on the belt looks to have been shaven off. Pics will follow. I was just wondering if anyone might know or have a clue as what would have caused this. At the moment, the belt feels to be too tight and im thinking it is the tensioner to be at fault. Could someone confirm with me or lead me to any other possibilities? Also does anyone of any other method to finding out how to get cylinder 1 to TDC and get the cams to line up for putting on the new belt? The reason I ask is that there's a chance there are no markings to line up to. Thanks.
