  1. mine leaks too. i just got a box off a 91 in the junk yard and was gonna swap them, but first i was thinking of attempting :crossedwires: to do the 40 dollar rebuilt kit on my new one just for good measure. :handlebars: has anyone done it before? comments on the project?

  2. well i have my old t-bars but will it change the lift cause right now i have calmini t-bars which are a little thicker.

what "keys"? are you talking about the anchors?

I havent had any time to tear it down yet so maybe this or next week end I will rip everything apart and see whats going on. I have a parts pathfider that I can take any parts I need from, so I prolly dont need to buy anything. but thanks

  3. how much money would it be to do a SAS on a 89 SE? How hard is the swap/install? where do I get everything I need for parts?

    I want to go higher!

    Current.

3in BL; 3in Calmini suspesion lift. thorley headers. 33 12.50 bgf Muds

  4. I got a 89 SE im thinking about doing the SAS. after everything's said and done what am i looking at price wise and how hard is the actual swap., ( stand alone toolbox mechanic.)

where can i get everything to do the SAS?

  5. DiD it pop in and out again?

Guess what! this exact thing happened to me yesterday. I was wheelin down this creek and my front driver-side tire fell in this hole and the same time i heard a loud crack/pop and while I drove out of the creek and my tire rubbed like crazy my pathy was leaning to the left about to squish my front left tire. I had to reidex my torsion twice on the trail. I have calmini's suspension lift with HD torsion bars.

I had the same problem with the reverse torsion and what I had to do to get it so there was not pressure was jack up the truck and then jack up the lower A arm until there is no more reverse pressure; take the anchor arm off and drop the tire back on.

Along with that I bent a tie rod and my alignment is a joke. if you need any more adivice let me know. Im dealing with this today so ya.

  6. So i went four wheeling after finally getting my 3 inch body lift and my 3 inch calmini lift and my brand new 33 12.50 BFG muds on, and guess what? something breaks. Well nothing really broke but my torsion bars actually popped out while bouncing over a couple holes.

So After having to reidex my driver-side torsion bar in the rocks and sand, it popped out again! :suicide: so again put it back on there and didnt have anymore problems after that.

but my truck is crooked and I am about to go fix the torsion and alignment but I had a few ?s before starting.

    1. Should the anchors to the torsion be flush against the cross-member?, or should there be space in between the anchorr and Xmember?

    2. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them?

    3. how do I make sure this never happens again? ( besides SAS which I might do.)

  7. should the anchor be tight up against the cross member? I recently just put the calmini lift on my 89, and the front of my truck is squatting down in the front, a lot. since I was putting new torsion bars on, I didnt have any where to start from so this write up was only partial help. . the first time I put the t-bars on, the anchor would not go all the way up to the crossmember so I had to re-adjust it so the anchor would go all the way up. but I think I over adjusted, and now I am just confused so if someone has dealt with this before I really could use some help.

  8. Does you fuel gauge work ok? There is a regulator on the back of the cluster that can fail. When it does, it usually take out both gauges(temp and fuel).

every once in a while about every 5th time i drive my temp gauge and fuel gauge stop working... how do i change that regulator and where can i get it?

  9. so i bought a parts pathy that had the calmini lift on it and I am in the process of putting it on my pathy but i dont have the directions but ive done alright up until now.

I have no clue how to put the torsion anchors at the right angle and both at the same angle before tighting it down.

right now its on but its WAY off. one side i could tighten the anchor all the way up to the cross member but the other side i have tightened as much as i could turn it but the anchor doesnt even fit up to the cross member.

if some one can help me with directions or who has done the lift before i would be very grateful as my truck is on jack stands until i complete this.

unfortunately it is also my daily driver...

  10. thanks everyone for the info. i found the plate on the inside fender and the 87 auto and the 89 manual bot have HG43. kinda a bummer cause i thought if the 87 had 4.6s the i could regear my manual to a little better gears but i guess that means the swap is gonna be easier.. thank you again...

btw.. im currently stuck. im trying to take the calmini lift off the 87 and put it on my 89 but i dont know how to take the torsion all the way off...

is says in the how-to to reindex the t-bars but icant seemed to get them off in the front. :( okie dokie.. let me know!

ps i should be putting pics up soon too.

  11. What is the stock exhaust? Do you have problems with back pressure etc, considering the vehicle is NA?

I did my exhaust last week! ive got an 89 with Doug Thorley Headers going to 2and a quarter Y-pipe. from there I got 2 and a quarter through the cat and 2.5 from cat to dynomax turbo mufler! alls well ends well. 3" chrome tip. SOUNDS AWSOME!!!!!!
