  1. Everything is in great shape.....wiring is all a-ok.

Cool. Just want to make sure I'm not going to overload any circuits or anything.

Already got the pulley off....fortunately I have a little compressor now so made that easy as pie.

Any way to check the alty with a multimeter or anything like that......I'm kinda lazy right now, don't feel like going anywhere.

I am willing to take it for granted that it is working...got it off a New Canadians' Maxima that he ran into a pole. The car is..err was in what seemed to be great shape. Looked pretty clean and taken care of under the hood. The guy's dad was telling me how they had been really fixing it up and then BOOM, hit's a pole.

    Anyways...so there....now you know.

  2. So, I found a great deal on a maxi alty from a 91. Got it for 20 dollars. That's Canadian. So it's probably like 9 US bucks....hehe.

Couldn't pass it up. Just had to pull it myself.

So, I was wondering....I know that these are used once there is add-ons to the electrical system, ie, lights, e-fan and such.

Which I plan to do eventually.

Would there be any problem using it before I do any of those mods?

My Pathy is an SE with the power windows, mirrors, heated seats and mirrors and such.

It seems like these options are already taxing on the electrical system as it is, like when you roll all the windows up or down at the same time.

    What do you alll think?

  3. when was the last time you had your calipers off and had them all cleaned up? The sliders get rusty and sh!t and could cause them to not work too good. my rears were like that...wouldn`t grab very good, had to clean up the slide pins and the shims and stuff, try to grease the slide pins to prevent them from rusting and siezing.

  4. The only way to really know to bore the cylinders is to inspect for bad scoring. if they look good and if you can check with precision measuring tools you might be able to get away with just re-honing the cylinder walls.

It all depends how in depth of a rebuild you want to do.

Changing the main bearings would probably be a good idea if you are already in there.

It is one of those things where if you are in there you might as well do it if you plan on keeping for some time.

Re-ring it, Hone the cylinder walls and replace those bearings and call it a day. oh and change the RMS too

  5. Is that the same pathy that you had problems with bad alignment problems.

If so did you ever get it fixed.

I guessing not if you have trashed the front end now.

  6. check the rear drums. if there is too much wear or if they aren't adjusted to touch the drums the system would be losing all its pressure pushing those pads too far.

Definitely check the drms. Fluid could also be leaking in to the drum from the plungers and it would take a while for it to leak out from there before it would be noticed.
