  1. Hello all ! I just made what I think was a decent score ! I just picked up a 94 Pathy SE for a mere $2000 .... and the frame seems to be in REALLY good shape ( compared to my 93 XE's which isn't all that bad ... ). I have a few questions to the guru's on the board here. The 94 SE has a ton of options ( PW, PL, electronic adj shocks {don't seem to work tho}, htd seats, sunroof, racks, big tire package with cast rims and so on. Questions are as follows .... 1) I've heard the 31x10.5x15 tires are really hard on the steering box. Is this true ?? I have noticed already that she doesn't turn nearly as quickly or effortlessly as my 93 XE that has the 235x75x15 tires. Should I keep the cast rims and stick with the big tires, or maybe switch all the wheels and tires from one to the other? What do you all think of going to a 30x9.50x15 tire on the cast mags. My thought is that these would be a good comprimise between the the two and give a bit quicker steering, less wear and tear and the steering box, a tighter turning radius and a slightly heavier footprint. 2)LSD differential or not !?!?! Do the 94 SE's equipped as mine is have an LSD in the rearend factory ??? I know ... find some dirt, rev er up and dump the clutch !! I could do that, but if its pooched, how will I know if it IS an LSD equipped truck !??? 3)How nasty a job is it to put a 3" body lift on one of these babies ??? Am I in for lots of rusted and broken off bolts taking things apart ???? Considering the frame is good and body rot is a bare minimum, am I good to go with little headaches, minimal cussing and busted and bloody knuckles ?? Thanks in advance for your thoughts !!
  2. I'm currently on holidays and am getting a strong smell of fuel on occassion when I turn my defroster on. I am assuming it is coming from underhood as I have it drawing outside air, not on recirc mode. I see no fuel filter, fuel rail hose or other leaks. What could I be missing ??? My truck also seems to have lackluster get up and go sometimes when in any gear. I gave it a full tuneup, have yet to run computer diagnosis checks to see if maybe the O2 sensor is hooped, but if I hold the throttle steady for about 20 to 30 seconds, it clears up and runs great ! I took a look at the O2 sensor before I left and it looked pretty dam old and crusty, so I am suspecting it isnt either heating up properly or is causing the computer to go in and out of closed/open loop. If it gets me back the 800 miles home, she will definitely get a good going over, but my tailpipe also seems to be rather black indicating over-rich fuel to me. Any thoughts ???
  3. I have a similar problem on my Cdn model 93 Pathy. Since I used to work as a mechanic, I set about checking stuff out, and my old headlight switch did have some gooey contacts in it that I cleaned, but that only partially fixed the problem ( original switch the cruise button was missing when I bought the truck ... and the wrecker bought switch has similar problem). What I did discover after a call to the dealership and the guy in parts telling me they sell loads of DRL modules, was in checking that out, discovering it wasn't as much the module, but rather the WIRING harness plug to it that was the culprit. I still just need to get offa my lazy a$$ and actually fix the damn thing tho !! I'm thinking this weekend would be a good idea !!
