  1. I've been chasing oil leaks on my Mom's 97' pathfinder. I replaced the crankshaft seal and it is still leaking. Are you supposed to remove the oil pump to replace the front crankshaft seal? This requires removing the oil pan and sounds like a major PITA. Is it common to have leaks from behind the pump? Oil has been dripping out the bottom of the timing cover for a while now. Any suggestions?
  2. Maybe I heard the guy wrong, but I though he said 446 and 450. It have very well been 1446. I just had them read at the autoparts store down the street.
  3. I'm working on a 97 Pathfinder. It is down on power below 3k rpm. It surges while accelerating from idle to 3k. At 3k rpm it picks up power and seems to run fine. I also hear a slight fluttering noise below 3k rpm which get louder the more you open the throttle. Codes thrown are P0446 and P0450. I just changed timing belt, water pump, plugs, wires, cap rotor. Any suggestions?
  4. I have AutoTap but I can't get it to connect. I've only been able to get it to work on GM vehicles. Site says it will work with any 96' or later vehicle.
  5. Sounds likely. Mostly likely something that I did, like throw off cam timing, super.
  6. 97' 250k miles I just changed the timing belt, plugs, etc. After putting it all back together, it took a while to start, had both fuel and spark. Had to crank it for 20-30 seconds before starting, then would stall. After trying this about 5 times finally got it to run. Shut it off and it started up again normal as it should. Once out on a test drive I noticed that power is lacking and acceleration in first gear (auto) to 3k rpms is not smooth, has a slight surging. I pull the codes, forget the numbers but one is for the knock sensor and the other is emissions evap system. Any ideas? I was wondering if I got one of the cam sprockets a cog off, but I really don't think so.
