  1. I am at the moment 2,000 miles away from our Pathfinder, but I'd like to order some tires for a Saturday installation. The tires on it now are 50's, but I want to go to stock size. One source claims 235/70/15s, and another source states 235/75/15s. Perhaps the 5% difference between 75 & 70 isn't enough to be concerned with. Could someone give me the 1994 model SE OEM tire size as printed on the door jam label? Thanks.
  2. I've seen the cooler issue in so many forums that I just might do the cooler for good luck. I worry about most auto trannies in modern vehicles. The 200,000 mile automatic trannies of my youth are perhaps mostly extinct. For $30 or $50 bucks, it can't hurt. I could use a link to a good source of transmission coolers appropriate for this 94 Pathfinder. Complete kits with mounting parts would be great too, as my time is short to get this vehicle ready to go. For some reason, I didn't have much luck with Google, and our local parts stores are highway robbers. For example, I was looking for some simple non contoured mud flaps for my daughter's Jetta - the local guys want $15 a pair for simple flat plastic mud flaps. We have no Pep Boys or similar chains around here, so I likely would be looking for a mail order cooler if possible. Thanks.

    Fuel Leak

    Just a passing thought -- If the tank change is a do it yourself project, you might consider dropping the tank, then put in a handful of BBs and shake the tank vigorously to clean out the scale, then rinse and let air dry in the hot sun. There are liquid products available via antique vehicle restoration suppliers that pour into the tank, then you rotate the tank to spread the liquid. When it dries, these products seal the tank from the inside out. http://www.morrowmarsh.ca/concours/techpag...stanksealer.htm Part of my business is transporting gasoline in truckload quantities. When we stick the gas station tanks, we use water paste on the stick to inventory how much water is on the bottom of the tank. (Almost every petroleum storage tank has water on the bottom, it's a fact of life that we don't talk about much :X ) A tip -- NEVER buy fuel while we are delivering gas to a station, as we are often stirring the water up into the vicinity of the pick up tubes. It's better to wait an hour and let the water fall back to the bottom of the storage tank. Water & fuel actually do mix to a degree, at least at the molecular level. The longer you let the water settle after a delivery, the better.

  5. I like that green too. It almost looks black from 30 feet away. I hope that mileage is right. This Pathfinder will carry one of my "babies" 900 miles from CT to SC, but I will only have a matter of days with the vehicle prior to her departure. :eek:
  6. Thanks. Most of my 4 wheel drive experience is with a 64 Jeep pickup, with a Chevy 6, 3 speed tranny (3 on the tree) and locking hubs. I'll try to remember post a picture of it when I get back from Nevada next week. It has around 30,000 extreme miles on it, as a former golf course truck, so don't expect much. The New England road salt did a job on it too. A little more about me -- I have a wife and three daughters ages 19 - 23. We live in NW CT, and the kids are pretty much moved out. I also have a 41 Mack ED pickup, a 38 Plymouth coupe, both are stock and unmodified. I also have a 2002 Mustang GT convertible - (my wife's old car which is for sale - http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...lor=&cardist=0) , a 64 Valiant convertible, a 2004 Honda CR-V - (my wife's new car,) and a 1995 Dodge van that belongs to my 6 year old Golden Retriever.   7. Many thanks to all for the good info. One of my issues is a lack of time to get this vehicle ready, as I will be away in Vegas next week for a convention (I know that's a rough task, but someone has to go ) I could use some tips on where to get an appropriate sized and priced transmission cooler, and some suggested mounting locations and techniques to save me some time.
  8. I'm not sure which trim level it is. I might be interested in buying that 94 manual if you want to sell it, or perhaps you know where I could get one? Carfax leads me to believe that mileage is correct, but there is one link in the Carfax report that could be contested, between the 2nd owner and the dealer's acquisition. The odometer did work during my test drive, but who knows if the 2nd owner may have clocked it? I will hope for the best.   9. I bought a 94 Pathfinder for my 19 year old daughter here in CT, as she is going to spend the Summer working in SC, and will take this car with her. She will be a long way from home, so I want to go through the vehicle before she leaves in mid May, and so I have some questions. This vehicle has the 3.0 engine, with an automatic tranny. I am going to change all the fluids, filters, and various wear items before she goes. According to Carfax, the timing belt was done at 63,000 miles, and the vehicle now apparently has 71,000 miles on it. Here is some basic info on this vehicle from Carfax-- Year/Make/Model: 1994 Nissan Pathfinder LE/SE/XE Body Style: 4 DR. WAGON/SPORT UTILITY Engine: 3.0L V6 EFI SOHC Fuel: GASOLINE Driveling: 4 WHEEL DRIVE Manufactured in: JAPAN Safety Equipment: Rear Wheel ABS, Active (manual) belts Standard Equipment: Power Windows Optional, Power Steering, Air Conditioning Optional, AM / FM Cassette, Power Brakes, Tilt Wheel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have no prior knowledge of Pathfinders, and this vehicle has no owner's manual My questions are: Tranny fluid - Some vehicles are very fussy about using OEM automatic tranny fluid - Is the 94 Pathfinder OK with non-OEM fluid, and if yes, what spec does it require, and what is the quantity needed when I change the fluid and filter? I'm OK with buying OEM fluid & filter if required. We have a Nissan dealer in the neighborhood. Transfer case - what oil spec is required, and how much? Rear end - what oil spec, and how much? I will likely go with Mobil products for the rear end and transfer case, as I have a barrel of Mobil Synthetic transmission / rear end oil for my trucks in our garage. Coolant - is this Pathfinder fussy about OEM coolant? Some vehicles are, due to specific additive packages. What is the coolant capacity, as I want to flush the cooling system and install a new thermostat & gasket. I am of a mind that aftermarket name brand parts are OK for the belts, hoses, plugs, PCV, fuel filter, air cleaner, and so on. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Please let me know what else I can do to put her in a reliable vehicle. Thanks
  10. I joined NPORA this morning. I am a 46 year old trucking fleet owner from NW CT, and I bought a '94 Pathfinder for my 19 year old daughter. I bought this Pathfinder from a used car dealer, and so it has no owner's manual. I will post some questions in the appropriate forum with regard to some maintenance particulars, as I want to go through the vehicle before she takes it from CT to SC in mid May, as she wants to spend the Summer in SC near her college.
