  1. Ok, I cleaned up all around the engine and timing cover area.

    No leaks on the hoses.

All I see are drips coming from right here:

    (Please see the video)

Anyone want to take a wack to see what is the problem? Guess?

    Rig has 156K

Original owner said he replaced the water pump and radiator this past year.

  2. everything winds up right there...I have had mine look like that from valve covers...it could also be the oil pressure switch...bad oil filter (pin hole or not good mating surface)...could be a RMS...could be an oil pan gasket or the oil pan itself

some guys have mentioned on here B4 about some UV additive that you can add in your oil then use a blacklight to track it

    Good luck

All I know that this job will not be any fun.

I cannot believe how much crap I already done to it and not even one day of ownership. lol

Wife is not happy about the oil drips now going on our driveway. I told her to move the new mazda out of the garage and let the big boy in. SHe laughs. I told her I was serious ;)

  3. From memory if you lever the top of it with a flat screwdriver. It pops off :D

If you want I can go out n remove mine and take a pic so you know what your dealing with.

LoL! I just got back in here to see what anyone said and did find out it just pops out. So Woohoo! All done :)

    Thanks

Now time to order the motor/regulator.

  4. I found that and those three screws inside. Looks like what is stopping me from pulling of my door in the inside door opener (where you would open the door if you were inside the truck. I am afraid if I pull to hard, I might break the door opener or the power window buttons (area).

I never dealt w/ a design like this. Seems like a pain in the %%%!!

Well; I almost got it all out. Only thing stopping me from getting the whole door off is the wires to the power window switches. How do I get to fully remove the door panel??

    Thanks

  5. Theres a phillips screw behind the armrest panel which is well hidden, check there. remove that and pull up and out - the top clips in with small metal clips that wrap around the top of the door frame.

  6. I didnt do a search but its pretty simple...if you have fog lights remove/disconnect those then remove or disconnect the turn signals in the front of the bumer then theres 2 12mm bolts on both sides through the wheel wells that will allow you to remove it...if the closeout rubber is still there I'm pretty sure it hides one of the bolts if not both...

for reinstallation one bracket on both sides is slotted so you can slide the bumper on those and put the top bolt in without having to fight it too terribly much...

here is a pic of the LH front frame where the bumper bolts up...theres no body but you can kinda get am ental picture of what your looking for...

    2359897_21_full.jpg

    Ok cool! Thanks !!

I need to get it off, b/c the lip below the bumper is bent and my passenger side fog light is not working. I need to find out what the heck is wrong with the cable. Plus I plan to install new front and rear bumper on it here very shortly. Thanks for your assistance.

  7. The regulator is broken for the driver side power window.

I need to replace it, but I am having problems taking off the inside door panel. lol

It's all ready to pop out, but the very top where the when comes up and down (open / close) is not working w/ me. I don't think there are ribbets that is allowing it to pop fully out (the inside door panel)

So does anyone here know how to take off that inside door panel?? :( Thanks

  8. I have a pretty bad oil leak. At first I notice some drips.

It looked like it was coming from the drain plug. So I wiped it down clean; drove around about 10 min.

Parked the rig and waiting. Soon enough some drips are on the concrete.

Looks to be coming from above the oil pan. WHat is it? Rear main seal? Is that where to leak is coming from?

Take a look / above the oil pan:

    Thanks for any help.

  9. Ok all done!

The oem horn is working :)

    P1020322.jpg

    P1020326.jpg

But.. but....The only problem now is the front cover that covers the steering wheel caseing is not going back into place correctly. I hit it hard to get it to take and hope to click in, but no go. It stays closed, but not really well. It looks like in one area it looks as if the steering wheel cover is warped or something. So when I make sharp U-turn the steering wheel cover is rubbing the plastic colum that covers the ignition switch cover..

    Here:

    The warp in the cover??

    P1020333.jpg

if its not there then just reach behind the horn and pull carefully to make sure he didnt jerry rig it some other way...if the screw is out it should come out with a lil persuasion but not too much...I was pulling hard and finally was like something aint quite right here and looked under and sure enough there was the screw...remember the interiors engineer's job is to put the fasteners where they can't be seen from the passenger/driver POV so if its not coming theres still something connected somewhere
  10. Ok, I just found out one of the two fogs are out!

I did it old school and tested it.

    Here is what I did:

Back in elementary school did anyone in science class ever used two wires, 9-volt battery and touched the neg and pos to a light bulb??

Well that was what I did. Now I know one of the fogs are bad. Try it, it works :)

  11. I saw a fix (how to) for a WD21 Rear Hatch Sensor.

    I think this maybe a problem w/ my 95.

What I notice is that on my cluster 'an open door light' flashes on and off once in a while cruising down the highway

I know all my doors are shut close tight. You guys think this might be the prob and this could be the cure?

Damn, I have a honey do list on my new pathy that's for sure :(

    Thanks

  12. Just realized my fog lights aren't working. Haven't poked around the truck yet... been looking all over the FSM and there is no mention of a foglight fuse or even foglights for that matter. Is there one? Little indicator light on the rocker switch turns on, but nothing at the bumper.

I just got my pathy today. I do have fogs also, but they don't work either.

I notice there is a switch close to my E-brake handle that turns on the fogs. WHen I click it on the little yellow light on the switch comes on, but the fogs show no light. I think the bulbs maybe dead. Anotehr thing I have to fix also. hehe

  13. I notice before the purchase of my *new-owner today* Pathy that it was leaking anti-freeze.

The seller said he did replace the water pump and radiator and he was unaware of this small leak.

So I was hoping it was just a hose leak.

After coming home and taking off the skid plate, there was no hose loose.

What I ran across was looking at the HEAD BLIND-PLUG.

It states that I have to take off the front timing belt covers, timing belt, upper camshaft timing gears and the rear belt cover/dust shield to get to it.

    Is it really this bad?

I think this maybe the problem. All the antifreeze was sitting inside the skid plate.

How long of a job like this take? I mean to see if its just the HEAD BLIND-PLUG? Thanks

  14. on the very bottom side of the column theres a spot thats recessed theres a phillips head in there pull that out and then the center will putt out (it has 2 clips on it as well)

Thanks. I will check it in the AM to see if that screw is still there (I hope)

  15. Hey, Thanks for these pics.

I just purchased my 95 XE, yep cruise and the horn does not work.

The owner ran a button below the steering wheel for a horn. Looks like I got a home door bell on my pathy.

I really like to fix this. One thing I notice is the steering wheel cover. It was never put back on correctly. What holds the steering wheel front in place? It looks like it clips in, but it seems not to be the case. Any help? Thanks man..

    Steps I took:

    ~Removed steering column shrouding

~removed Phillips head screw on bottom of steering wheel

    ~removed horn assembly

~removed steering wheel (broke nut loose, left about 4 threads on, snatched it loose to not require a puller, loosened nut and pulled wheel off)

~Pulled back steering wheel shroud off, placed washers between that and steering wheel to push contact circle downward

    ~installed in reverse order

  16. Is your Pathfinder 4wd?? If so why not put it in 4 high and pull right out?

By the way our 05 and up Pathfinders are rated to tow 6,000 lbs not 5,000... just FYI

I have owned mine 05 SE 4x4 since new, no issues, no breakdowns of any kind. I now have 40,000 miles and all I have had to do was oil/filter changes, new tires, and could use some new brakes within the next 10k miles. I would say that my PF has been as reliable a vehicle as I have ever owned. Maybe you got a bad one?

Bad one, can be very true.

Oh mine was not 4wd. It really was hard to pull my boat due to boat vs suv @ the ramp. It just dragged it down the ramp. I mean i locked the brakes and I slid at least 2' before it stops. It really was sad b/c what I was paying for the promised performance and scary b/c it was not honored to what it was advertised to do

  17. Back in 2006, I went out and traded my 2002 Tahoe for the new all-mighty pathfinder SE.

Claiming that I could tow up to 5000#'s

Since my uncle worked @ the Nissan Dealership he got me out of the HOE and into the pathfinder.

Before I looked into getting the Pathfinder I owned a new boat. It was a 4000# deck-boat that was needed to be pulled by the Pathy and to replace my Hoe.

So I trusted the specs and signed the dotted line.

Owning the rig for couple weeks, we decided to take the boat out w/ our new official tow rig (Pathy).

Sad to say at the boat launch the pathy was getting dragged. Got scared and tryed to pull out. Pathy spinning rwd tires and putting up smoke. I swear it looked like a forest fire going on @ the boat launch/ramp. Finally getting it out. I was pretty upset! Maybe it can tow up to 5000#, but IMHO it was not safe. So not that I just lost my original tow rig (Tahoe). I had to go out a find another tow rig (I got a older Z71 just to pull the boat/ which sucked to use for that main reason). Keep in mind I do-not live far from the lake. Keep in mind I did try better rated rubbers and floor mats for the wet launch ramp. No help!!

So if you ever plan to tow w/ the pathy, do-not go over 3000#'s sorry, the pathy is not a really good tow rig. Maybe fine w/ pop-up trailer, jetskis or some bikes.

Reliability - Damn... only about 15K miles on her. Taking longer trips to Colorado or Louisana the ac unit would stop blowing cold air. I had to turn the AC off for about 30 min and turn it back on the get it to work. I think the ac lines froze. Dealership could never fix the problem b/c it only happen is long distance travel and use of AC. So yep a gremlin is hidding. Not picky, I did own a JEEP GC so I can tolerate this issue, but for 3 year lease. NO WAY!! Not here in 100+ temp in Texas.

So where is it now? I broke the lease. I had to pay a early termination fee. I think about $2K. It was the best decision I ever did!!

So what I will say is this, I for one did not have any luck w/ this rig w/ the choices I made. I am sure there are plenty of ownes of it that are happy, but IMHO I am much happier w/ the previous style Pathys.

To end this review I will say that for a standard own use SUV it has a lot to be offered and I really liked the power of the new designed engine, but I don't think I can be happy to be a long owner of one. It's just really boxy for the new trend of designed vehicles that is out there now days~

    ~End.

    Bye, bye pathy :)
