  1. Great news guys! I sold my Pathy. Well, that's not so great but it's who I sold it to: my grandpa. He's always liked it and decided to buy it off me. He said whenever I get settled in a more permanent place and have money, I'm always welcome to buy it back. To top it off, he hates automatics and says he might try and swap the tranny out with a manual. Things can't get any better! See you guys around...

  2. Hey guys just wanted say thanks for all your help and support on my topics while I was on here. It certainly has been a pleasure. I've decided to sell my Pathy for financial and living situation reasons. I have too many cars. That means I won't be on here much anymore. :(

UPDATE: Not leaving for now, may get my Pathy back in a year or so! :jig:

  3. I found if the alignment is not PERFECT it will cause the truck to shimmy at random times.

Hmmm.damn our trucks are sensitive. I'd like to know how my truck rode when it was new compared to now. Maybe my standards are just too high for a 15 year old vehicle. *shrugs*

I'm sure shift220 can relate: Yesterday when I drove to work, the ride was steady and smooth with no vibration/shimmy. This was up to 75mph. Today, when I accelerated to 60mph, I got a slight side to side shake and at 68mph a lateral bounce bad enough to make the hood shake. New TRE/centre link, new tires (balanced twice), new bearings, but worn lower ball joints. Those are my last resort to try to fix my problem. More money, more stress...GRRRRRRR!!!!!

  4. So the shimmy came back the next day after the wheel bearing and has been just horrible. I just replace the steering rack bushing and it really calmed it down. Unfortunately I don't think that was the cause of it as its still there. I still don't think it could be a wheel imbalance (even dynamic) because its just not consistent enough. I'm driving at 80 kph along a road and the first half is smooth and then half a km later its shimming like crazy.

I'm going to play with the tire pressures next and perhaps try the stock wheels.

Sorry to hear that. Shimmy seems to be our way of life on here...I've spent over $1,000 trying to find the fault with mine (my shimmy was random as well) and it still goes crazy sometimes.

  5. can i get the relay at the autoparts store or is it a dealer item?

I'm sure Nissan can get you one but people on here say you can get them easily at most autoparts stores. Just bring in the old one to match it up. I tried to get one at Autozone, but the one's in stock were wired differently and didn't allow the fogs to function at the same time. I haven't put much effort forth since then to find one that works. They are around $12.

Maybe someone on here can chime in on a store that carries them.

  6. I've discovered that unsprung weight makes a difference. Just by downsizing from 31x10.5 tires to 235/75 R15s, I noticed my rig is a bit more peppy and the ride isn't as jittery and nervous. I think my MPG is better too. My buddy changed out his stock steelies for some forged aluminum rims that were about 5lbs lighter per wheel and that thing felt like a rocket afterwords...well maybe by Pathy standards.
