Man, I'm glad I signed up for this post- My new (87, 137k miles), just purchased was doing that when I test drove at the auction- 5 speed is great, no issue. I put in 4Hi, and it jumped, jerked and stalled- I've actually got a tranny guy looking at it right now, as I thought the front end or transfer case was funky. Good question freezerburn!

Hey, just purchased an 87 Pathy, Se, 5sp, 4X4 as a off-road, snow and ice, and ocassional use vehicle. Fairly rough inside, which is no big deal, and currently have a mechanic guy I know checking it out. Definitely need some new tires, lift kit, etc. Any recommendations on lift kit (probably just 2"" or so), tires etc? This was a former Police vehicle in some small town in OK, can still see the faded "police" logos- Mechanically fairly good, friend picked it up at an auto action for $500- Thanks!
