  1. Why do you assume the newer are better? Yes, more luxurious and more power. As good off road? Probably not... I'm not sure what you want anymore...

The reason I started this thread was because I dont know what i want and am looking for some outside opinions. I never assumed the newer ones were better just asked the question.

My parents arent making me trade in the pathfinder but like i said, 3500 is way more than I could ever get for it so why not. It looks like the general opinion is just get another old pathy. Only thing about that is I havnt been able to find one with under 140k miles, least not within 500 miles of here. Guess I just gotta keep looking.

  2. Its actually not that complicated or flawed. If you have an old car you turn it in and if the new car you buy gets like 2 or 3 mpg more than the one you turn in you get a 3500 credit. Who cares what the dealer makes off it. I supose the whole point was, the pathy will never sell for over 1500 even tho its blue book value is over 2500. I may try and find a better path. Maybe add a some $ to the 3500 from my parents. How are the newer pathfinders. 2000+? Some interiors look dam luxurious. Do they kick a** off road like mine?

  3. So the cash for clunkers bill has passed and I now have a dilemma. That is, should I sell my beloved pathy? I love the path and everything about it but the truth is, shes aging and quickly. The frame is facing a continuous battle against rust and the engine, though very reliable still, can only last so much longer. It looks as if my parents will trade in the pathfinder and buy a new car with the voucher and give me the cash that the voucher is worth($3500). I just have no clue what I could replace her with. Nothing even comes close. I just need some help. The floor is now yours for suggestions.

Oh did i mention the govt requires all vehicles turned in to be Destroyed. I dont know if I could give it away to such a fate.

  4. Your alternator, is not going to fry anything. It is rated at 180 amps. This means it will be able to supply up to 180 amps to any circuit that draws tha many amps.

It only puts out the std 13.8 volts.

You will most likely be only drawing 30ish amps from your fan and lights so that is all the alternator will be supplying.

I have a stock std 70 amp alty on my TD27 and it is more than enough to supply charge to 2 batteries as well as the winch and 5 driving lights. I draw with calculations, 43 amps with the driving lights alone so there is sufficient amperage left over to charge batteries etc.

I would not use the winch with the lighting running all the same. I have run this scenario through with my local auto sparky and he has no issues with what im doing.

Thats interesting. I wonder if thatll wear your alty down quicker?

  5. My cruise control just straight up stopped working. The light comes on on the switch when i hit it but it wont set. Happened around the same time my horn stopped working. Well at least I have to have my steering wheel turned all the way around for it to honk. Not that this would help you though.

  6. i put the flowmaster 40 series on my 95 pathy. I think the part number is 942041. It sounds pretty good i think but would be way better if the piping was larger diameter. If you got the money, i would recomend a high flow cat while they doin the muffler.

  7. Pathy's rear diff was dug into the ice. You cant see all around but theres way too much snow to even get speed to tug it off. And no Im no all inexperienced and all that nonsense mr knowitall claims. Just sometimes sht happens and you get stuck. Theres only two or three of us that have the balls around here to even get our rides dirty so I end up going by myself alot. As for the winch, the part of the cable that is welded to the inside of the winch snapped off. He runs his gear pretty hard but no im pretty sure it was a faulty winch. Also the tires on the other side are in 10in holes with solid frozen water in em. In the end if you are still doubting the situation, just remmeber Im not going to hand over $700 without doing everything in my power to get it out.
