  1. Like I said before, only need it once or twice a year. Would prefer to just replace the strobe bulb, but can't seem to find one. So I probably will get a new one someday. Just not a priority and have lots of other things to pay for. Like my scan tool, my snap-on rep told me a few weeks ago that they might be discontinuing support on mine in the next year or two. Makes sense, it is about 12 years old, but $8k is a bit more than I can finance right now. That is what it would have been after discounts and trade in of my current Verus Pro.
I definitely feel you on being on budget. It seems like my pathy gets no love but I do have 2 kids and fam to support.

  2. Sounds like yours was the fully loaded one. Kinda funny how it put high end luxury cars of only 5 to 10 years older to shame with all the touches, and at at a lower price at the time too, isn't it?

  3. There's factory service manual downloads available on here that give you detailed instructions on how to change your timing belt . Just get your crank tdc and your rotor should be on the plug #1 iirc

  5. Ive checked my distributor and it seems pretty clean. Im gonna go ahead and replace my spark plugs. Ive been told that its most likely a vaccum leak somewhere, and Ill probably hunt it down this weekend. Any ideas on what it might be? I know theres a ton of hoses and lines going every direction
Bro I double and triple checked mine and I still hear a whistling noise the one that made mine sound like it was going to die was the one that runs behind the engine from somewhere and into the cruise control in the left corner of the engine bay be sure not to get confused and think it's going to the trans relief line in the firewal behind the cruise control

  6. If the timing belt breaks, depending on the conditions at the time it breaks, RPM, engine load and other factors, at the very least you may get a bent valve. There are other possibilities such as piston damage, camshaft damage and other components.
Timing belts are designed stronger to your average fan belt and last alot longer. I ran one truck I had 160k miles before changing the T-Belt and when I removed the original belt, you could still read the OEM part number on it. I would just inspect it and check for wear.

Do you have the OEM part #?

  7. So luckily my neighbor has a 95 nissan chevy and he gave me a repair manual for it. It spans '87 to '95 pathfinders and nissan trucks. I found the knock sensor. Pulled off the upper intake manifold and just spent afew hours cussing up a storm and forcing my hand deep into the engine to unplug the last knock sensor. I relocated it to the top of the intake manifold but i feel i will change that soon. I put everything back together and quadruple checked everything over and over again. Started it up. After a few tries of it getting started up and running again, the idle seems fine. But now when i put it in gear, the while vehicle shakes fairly violently and the moment i put it in park, the vehicle shut itself off. Any thoughts?
Vacuum line somewhere torn or a hole in one?

  8. I just rebuilt my throttle body and finally got my 1988 Pathfinder started again. It was pretty rough starting but it coughed to life. It was fine for about 10 seconds until the RPMs started surging up and down.  Can someone please help me?
Try checking your tps and try cleaning your maf sensor and basics distributor plugs wires vacuum lines too
