I have a 94 manual tran pathy with 149,604 mi.... got her smogged today- all good passed with flying colors... however, during the smog as the engine revd to 2500 I couldnt help but cringe as she whined and squeeled.... asked my mechanic why - (whom I trust only cuz he owns a 98 pathy that he adores) he told me my thermal fan clutch was going bad and showed me how his fan spinned when the car was off and mine didnt he explained something like it would run cooler when cold or something like that.... anyone have any similar situations??? What about changing the A/C Compressor Control Relay.... would help I wonder?? And where would that relay be located at???? Oh and just to add a couple months ago I was expericening that high squeeling noise ALL the time.... when I started the truck, as I drove it and shifted and it only got worse as the car got hot very embarrassing.... had my mechanic look at it and he tighted the Alternator belt and its nice and quite now. thank god! Now the clutch fan?? Damn it always seems like something.... before all this i had that no start starter clicking problem... changed starter, battery all that still didnt solve the problem, finally and its been almost a year now in August- its been a perfect start up every single time... my mechanic ran some kind of boost line from the starter sylonoid up to the interlock relay to give it extra amp power and its been perfect perfect perfect... I should take a picture of what he did cuz it was so simple and it sounds like so many other people have that same problem and cant figure out why. Anyway... thoughts on the fan? Probably gotta just do it hu??? He told me it would be about $200 bucks to replace- however when I looked up the fan clutch on Auto Zone the part was $57.00 - is it a lot of labor work???? Thanks! AC works great... radio works great. No after market radio.... You say Im missing a 15 heat seat fuse.... what does that do and do i absoulty need it?

about 6 months ago the radio stopped working- so I had that fuse (the one where it is melted) replaced - radio worked again - a few weeks later that is when I noticed the white smoke. the thing I don't understand is if that is the radio fuse how is it that the radio is still working? My cousin who previously owned the truck had an amp and bass installed - so it could be that is what those wires are for - although I did take out the amp and bass. Everything else is working fine- except for my usual starting problem with the occasional clicking noise -

I use to have an amp and bass... I took out them out cuz the bass just rolled around in the back and get disconnected wasnt mounted down real well... so should I worry about that melted fuse?

a couple months ago their was white smoke coming from the vents - I had no idea what it was and after 2 days it never happend again... well last night i was checking out my fuse box and I think i discoverd the source of the mysterious white smoke.. that i believe is the radio fuse - (my radio/cd is working fine though) check it out and PLEASE give my your advice on what the hell happened - and I'm wondering are those wires connected to those fuses and is there a relay missing up above their and what relays are those exactly?? thanks guys for your help!

Hey guys thanks so much for your imput... mechanic seems to think its low voltage - he wants to add a boost from relay wired down to the starter to give extra voltage. OK so I've read some of the topics with starting issues - but still am gonna ask for advice I have a 94 pathy manual tran - I had my starter & interlock relay replaced not to long ago... it was perfect for a couple of months then it started doing again... the clicking sound - after a couple turns it will always turn over and all is fine... so i just delt with UNTIL recently I tried to start up and there was no clicking sound, light, radio, all worked... I thought it may have been my battery-I jumped it and it started right up - went to have battery & alternator checked both fine. Since it seemed okay I went on my merry way.... (sometimes she starts up like normal - and sometimes I get the clicking which I know it will eventually start up) - week later no clicking uGH! Seems like when its hot out is when it happens- So this morning I took it in for an oil change and told the mechanic to check it out... no word from him yet... I'm thinking its the cylinod switch and has a bad spot somewhere....
