  1. Info Update: So this morning the speakers both came back on, when I started the car. after about 5 mins they stopped working again, but turning off and on the radio made the passenger side work again at regular volume, and the driver side was working at a very low volume. playing with the fading and balance setting on my radio confirmed that the driver side is barely working. Did we perhaps misdiagnose the problem ? thanks for your replies
  2. so what does an amp look like? again not much of a audio buff here. thanks for responding.
  3. Hey all, So earlier tonight my front door speakers on my pathy randomly stopped working. the rear speakers in the cargo area are still working. after a fair bit of searching the forum i've come across a few options that may be the problem. first was the fuse. i checked the audio and radio fuse in the drive side fuse box and both the radio and speaker fuse was fine. that leaves me with the last two options. i blew the speakers (hopefully not the case) or the [audio amp relay ]??? is the problem. not being a audio guy i'm not quite sure what that is or where to look for that. my headunit(i think that's the current radio set up) is a jvc kd-R530 and as far as i know the speakers and subs are all stock (though i'm not sure), but if anyone could help me diagnose this problem so i can get back to jammin while driving it would be a great help. please and thank you
  4. i used a piece of wire and jump from the pos battery terminal to the each 87 on the relay. both lights lit up when i did this. so the wires and connections to the lights seem fine. thanks for your help
  5. found out that the relay i bought wouldn't work. the 87 pins weren't connected on the diagram and therefore would only turn one fog on at a time if the system was working. bought a JD141E2 relay from napa and now both lights are currently off. which i think was correct. (logic being that they would turn on when the switch is flicked) also did some wire tracing and found that the green runs to the relay and hooks up with the single green wire from the lights and both wires gnd into the firewall. the yellow wire also goes to the relay but hooks into its own terminal. the purple wire never gets to the relay but stops short on what i think is a hood switch. it has a weird plastic connector right before it hooks to the switch. the switch is only connected to the firewall. pulling the connection apart and testing both sides with my multi (red) and the negative battery terminal (black) i get 13.23 volts from the connection side leading to the battery. that is the farthest i've gotten with trying to figure out this mess.
  6. So here is the problem. when i bought my pathy the fog light lenses were cracked and busted soon after. so i decided to replace them when the lights stopped working. i replaced the lights and flicked the switch. nothing happened. so i started my research and came across too simple solutions. the relay or the fuse. the fuse was fine, the relay was corroded. the relay is a bosch 0 332 019 150 relay. so i took a trip to oreillys and they told me the bwd R681 was a comparable relay that would work. however i noticed the diagrams on the sides were different. but i tried it anyway and it worked. sort of . the passenger side fog came on. but only that one. the led on the switch wasn't on and the driver side was dead to the world. so went through some basic trouble shooting. using the multi meter i found out that 30 on the relay was hot. also that 87 and 87 were the driver and passenger feeds.by connecting the 87's directly to the positive battery terminal i could tell the the wiring to the lights was good because both would light up. so now the problem was the switch. somewhere along the line i messed with the wires connecting to the switch. (or it was my dad) regardless i have a 4 pin off on fog light switch that is mounted in the center console and connects to 3 wires. yellow green and purple and it has a red led that turns on when the fogs are suppose to be on. however the switch is not doing anything. from tracing the wires green and yellow come from the relay. i have no idea where purple comes from. long story short i need to know how to reconnect the switch to the 3 wires and whether or not the relay i bought will work or do i need to by an exact match from bosch. i can post pictures if anyone thinks they will help
