  1. Hi. Had a nightmarish couple of days. Driving down the motorway at around 100ks when I heard a banging noise coming from under the car. Pulled over and had a quick look but didnt see anything untoward so I continued on my way. Just arrived at my friends street pulled over and decided I wanted to correct my parking a bit...but car would not shift in to reverse. In fact on further inspection it appeared that the gears had slipped down and by that I mean Nuetral became Drive etc. I was able to drive the car home. We have a long steep range on the way back to toowoomba. Everything was working well..until we stopepd at the top of the range at an intersection and the car made some loud grinding sounds and would not drive forward. After playing around a bit I got the car to drive forward whilst the gears made loud grinding sounds. Had to pull up and have tow truck take me the rest of the way home. I am assuming that I need a new automatic transmission since I am sure that the clutch plates are screwed. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of problem? Any advice would be helpful. - Aaron
